Hi All,

dual logic :
mileage : 112500

I had a scary experience , i was coming down the hill on 3rd gear , and could feel the car is not changing gears and there was some smoke up the bonnet too, stopped the car.

Could not get the car to neutral or startup - but the dashboard was not showing any error - could not get gear up or down.

called recovery , when bonnet was opened there was smell of burnt clutch plate, checked if dual logic fluid fluid has leaked - no issues.

as per the guy looks like clutch plate burnt.

my question is it as simple as clutch plate gone or something wrong with the transmission as cannot go in neutral.

Also any info on fiat independant garages in around hemel hempstead will help.

Thanks in advance

Depending how you use it, the Duologic can hammer it's clutch. e.g. hill holding on a "normal" automatic is harmless but on a Duo you are cooking the clutch.

A worn clutch gets heavy and won't release. Keep on going and eventually it will slip or something breaks due to the force needed to separate the clutch parts.

You need to find a mechanic with the knowledge to work on a Duologic without messing up the servo settings.

DO NOT USE a rapid fit clutch outfit.

thanks for the information ; I can now guess why many of the garages will not take up this job.

One independent garage has given me quote of around ~ 500 Plus 70 for clutch relearn procedure using software - its sounds excessive considering manual clutch changes are half the cost.

One more thing that might have contributed to the failure is that i drove on E setting , due to the gear changes were quite rapid.

Oh crikey. I've just had that happen on my panda too. Sounds like an expensive job ?

Thanks for the tip I will adjust my driving style to try and conserve my clutch !
