Hello all,
I have a 2006 Panda 1.1 Active and whet to buy a new Thermostat on ebay but seller has told me i have ordered the wrong one for my panda.

Can someone please advise which one i need to buy as i can not see it on the car without taking out the battery tray and maybe air filter and if im honest i cant be bothered to do it until i change it.

One i ordered is this,
ebay item number 401413390824
This is the one that also shows in the Haynes manual.

One he said i should order is,

Hi.
Im not sure where the difference lies..

Have a look on 'fiatdalys'site..
That should have all the options...

Yeah, but that link has a pic and Fiat's part number in it, it's the right one and it'll fit.

I wonder how much postage was involved buying the wrong one and then sending it back, then resending the correct one back out?

Ebay sellers might state free postage, but it'll be in the price!

Many Thanks for all the help.
I will order the right one local as need it for weekend.

The reg check picked up that i ordered the wrong part so wrong part was never sent so no return costs.

Many thanks all.

I ordered both of mine from a local motor factors

I found some low price ones on eBay first that were from real garages and wrote the name and price down.

Phoned the three motor factors in Crewe and when they quoted a ridicules price I go tut tut mmmmm much dearer than I expected. I have seen them at X pounds. One of them goes the price is the price. The other two asked where I had seen them. I then quote the prices and garages I noted earlier and they then sell them to you at trade price which normally is close to eBay.

Mine were both made by Firstline not as good quality as the original but both cars hold there temperature spot on.

You also need a replacement jubilee clip. Got mine from Wickes. I would advise you to measure the pipe first. I didn't, stood there for 5 minutes trying to visualize its diameter

Just picked one up £12 from bedford battery in Wellingborough.
Glad i came here to ask questions first because they had 2 types showing for my car. One with the wiring connector and the one in the link here so i was able to see and choose the right one.

Not really an urgent job for me as temp is on 1/4 when weather gets cold and never goes over 1/2 when stuck in traffic and heater works fine. Last week it struggled to get to 1/4 so showing signs of needing a new one. Changing the front metal coolant pipe so might as well do this at the same time.

Koalar, i have a big box of clips i brought from Aldi years ago so now my investment pays off.

Easy job

The first I changed I didn't bother removing the battery or tray.(you do need the exact length extension)

Second I took the battery tray out for better visibility. Made no difference you still can't see the top. So a waste of time

Cleaning the old gasket. I used a combination of scotch brite pad and meths and a scraper. To check the top I took a picture on my phone.

It likely the rubber seal will have deteriorate and be now missing from the thermostat. If the air temperature drops low enough and you drive at 60-70 MPH the engine temperature lows to below 60°C . The ECU assumes there is no water in the coolant and throw the engine light on and put the fans on full as a precaution.

If you let the car cool down it will reset and work fine again.
