I am getting ready to replace my damaged rear bumper with a new one I have had sprayed up. I have had a gander under the car, and have spotted the fitting points. Would it make life easier if I removed the rear wheels, or is access easy enough with them on? Thanks. Martin.

It will depend a lot on how old the car is, and how corroded the fasteners are. I would go for taking the wheels off and having a good clean and check fastenings. It may be useful to have new fastenings ready. It may be easier to cut away the old bumper for access, it was the last time I did it. I used an electric jigsaw but angle grinder and cutting disc work. With luck it will just come off easily, a good squirt of WD40 may be useful.

All done. No way I could have managed without removing the wheels to give access to the fasteners securing the rear part of the arch protectors. These have to come out to reveal the top corner bumper fasteners. Also having the car jacked up gives better access underneath. About 1 1/2 hrs all in.
