Hi all I'm new here and was after some help I've recently changed the rear brake shoe adjusters on my 54 plate 1.2 and since doing so my abs light comes on after about 150 yards and when I first put my foot on the brakes they feel real lumpy. The adjusters I bought were for cars with abs as I assumed it would have abs but can see no wires any help greatly appreciated thanks

If I was to hazard a guess. The lumpy feeling is the shoe lining has fallen off.

Doesn't really matter its got to come apart ASAP and find out what went wrong.

Forgot to mention the lumpy feeling through the brake pedal is only there the first time I touch the brakes after start up after that you wouldn't know there was a problem other than the and light on

Still sounds like something seriously wrong or broken. There's nothing complicated in the brakes. As soon as the drums are off it should be obvious.

Does the hand brake height alter ?

Nope the hand brake stays the same I just find it odd that the abs light has come on since I put the new adjusters on yet I can't see any wires or a sensor

The wire at the back and the wheel sensor is enclosed in the hub. There is nothing to see from taking the drum off.

Lumpy brake peddle need sorting

Why was the adjuster changed.

The abs sensor sits proud through the back hub plate and reads the hub as the wheel turns, this is why fault showing once you drive up the road only and not whilst stationary
if adjuster isn't fitted right or moves in the hub then its real easy to brake the abs sensor thus giving your symptoms
you really need to remove drums again to check otherwise its possible the adjuster could slip down ands jam a wheel
sorry

Have had both wheels off today one adjusters had slipped slightly and the other had slipped right off for what ever reason and has scored the hub were it sits on the stub axle so probably nakered the sensors ?

Sounds like they are winding in not out.

Are you sure they are assembled right and fitted to the right side.

You should hear them clicking when you first install them and apply the handbrake

I can't be 100% sure but don't think the hub will be damaged by the groove. Probably just locking the wheel and tuning the ABS light on
