Hello

My 1.2l when turn the key to start motor , it beeps , writes "excess coolant temperature please turn off the engine" ( or close to this ).
It lasts about one second as the engine started , then everything goes to normal .
When it happens , that water temperature gauge jumps to max and red light is on.
As said all this occurs on the moment the engine starts.
Coolant level is a bit higher then 'MAX' like two cm.
On driving every thing is OK , temperature slowly rises from min to middle normal and stays there during the drive.

What's can be the reason for this ?
Thank you

I've seen this once or twice before and it's usually voltage/battery related.

The coolant temp sensor works by returning a signal voltage back to the ECU.

Higher voltages returned mean cooler temps.
Lower voltages mean higher temps.

If it can't return a normal voltage signal because it just doesn't have the volts, it can cause this problem.

Before anything else, get your battery checked properly (drop test) and make sure the charging system is working correctly (engine and battery earth leads can rot away)
