Panda 169 4x4 service manual

Hi
Ive got a 169 4x4 and want to be able to service this.

The haynes manual does not cover the 4x4

Does anybody know where I can get a service manual for this variant?

Plus
My car has a rear differetial which has a longitudinal joint in the casing which I think means its is Electronic rather than viscous.

This seems to have an oil drain and refill plugs on the LH side. Having drained the oil (not much came out. And I certainly cannot get anywhere near 0.6 litres back in.
Can anybody suggest what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks

Malcolm

Re: Panda 169 4x4 service manual

It might use a special oil that allows the limited slip differential to work. It might just be a good quality gear oil.

Have a talk with Shop 4 Parts. They were very helpful for me when I had engine problems with a 1746cc Punto HGT.

What's your French like?

Search Amazon for Rta B706.5 Fiat Panda/4x4 09/03> Es.1.1/1.2 Dies 1.3

With some judicious google translate it may be helpful.

What model 4x4 do you have? Some specs have a viscous coupled centre differential.

Re: Panda 169 4x4 service manual

I have a 4x4, albeit with the viscous coupling, it has two hex-screws (14mm?) on the LH-side on the differential housing, one further back and down, and one further up and forward..

Maybe OP has drained away the special viscous coupling oil.
See that S4P have to say.

Re: Panda 169 4x4 service manual

He doesnt mention if it has ELD (it would be easier to know if he'd let us know the year of the model).
But coming from someone with a VC-version, I'd say its difficult to accidentally drain the actual coupling... afaik it sits between the propshaft and rear differential housing. (the only part of the assembly I couldnt open and fiddle with)

Re: Panda 169 4x4 service manual

Thanks for the replies. I don't think it was a viscous coupling that I tried to drain. It was the only two hex head bolts on the side that looked like drain and fill.
I will check out the link. And try to post a photo so that you can see what I am referring to
Cheers
Malcolm

Re: Panda 169 4x4 service manual

Agreed. My car does not have ELD on the dash. I also think the Electronic controlled versions have a joint in the diff casing which runs from front to back. Anyway I will phot this and show people which "drain" and "fill" screws I am referrring to.

Re: Panda 169 4x4 service manual

Short answer I don't know.

If you straighten up the photo there does not look to be much of a height difference between them.

I have reinstalled my computer and don't have elearn installed at the moment. Maybe someone can check if its on there..

Other than that you could try and phone a friendly Fiat specialist.

Re: Panda 169 4x4 service manual

Thanks for your reply. That picture is straight.
You can see the exhaust pipe behind. Which runs pretty horizontal along the vehicle. I am now waiting in hope for my copy of the French manual I have ordered, shown in one of the earlier replies

Re: Panda 169 4x4 service manual

Sorry slightly off straight. I thing the bottom of the diff casing just above the word fill, should be horizontal. That still shows a height difference. More to the point though, there are no other fixings that could've considered as fill and drain
