Hi,
Car is going in for MOT and Annual Service in a couple weeks and looking to get the timing belt, tensioner and water pump done at same time.

Currently sitting at 67k on 07 reg, no record of it being done previously in the cars documentation/history although visual inspection of it appears fine. I'm a stickler for knowing things are done for peace of mind though and I know visual inspections don't always show problems with belts.

Can anyone tell me if this kit will do the job:

It says compatible but I've noticed on EuroCarParts and on other sites too that there are two different impeller diameters on the water pumps, but both always say compatible - is it a big deal? If this is no good can anyone recommend the best kit to buy with a link?

Also - just to check is it a job any mechanic can do? I have a guy I use for general bits and bobs, he works for ATS but does the odd favour for me and is always very good with general stuff, but as timing belt is more difficult should I be seeking a fiat specialist or will they be able to manage it - I've read you need a special kit for timing alignment etc, would ATS have access to that?

Cheers

Timing belts are time and miles sensitive so yours is well past its use by date.

Ive done a Mk2 Punto HGT. It's fiddly and you need some cam locking tools but its not an excessively hard job. Rebuilding a cylinder head is much worse. DAMHIK

I'd get a garage to do it personally, one that did mine said the waterpump is a swine to remove and it's pretty tight in the engine bay.. pay a bit more and sleep easier.

changing the water pump is the easy bit.

if you take it to a garage, you always have to hope they do a good job, some do and some dont! i would personally rather do it myself and do it properly and know it is done properly.

Did you get an answer to this question?

I'm compiling my service items list for this weekend, and have came across the same findings.
