General Warning light and boot light

A plastic light fitting and bulb can't cost more than 20p to Fiat. They must have thousands at the factory. Suspect a batch went through with them being missed out. Mine is a 2004 model and it was missing, the tiny supply wire is there and it comes on magically when the boot opens, just no light fitting.
Couldn't be bothered going back so made my own using an 12 volt light that does the job.

looked at my brochure which the garage gave me in feb this year when i ordered my car and its standard on all models apart from active .

Interesting....

Jane,
Could you have a look at the price insert that comes in the brochure you have, and tell us what date is on it - as this tells us the date of the brochure. Mine, showing no boot light, is dated Dec 2005.

Thanks!

I noticed that only the price brochures were dated when I was buying.

Weird. The brochure I have has a red 4X4 in a sort of desert on the front, and the waist downwards of a girl wearing "Miss Sixty" jeans and holding a pair of red soled trainers on the back. In fact, Doh! have just noticed that if you fold out the brouchure - it's all one picture.

Inside, right in the middle, is a (folded in half) A4 insert in the same green tones as pages 13/14 which contain the features and options. The front page of the folded insert says "New Panda - Car and Options price list" and it's dated December 2005.

snap same brochure or at least same pictures no price list in it strange bet they have just gone up, so this have been removed ,do yours say light as standard on the dynamic ? i know its standard on the eleganza as my other half has one in his car.

has anyone fitted the bootlight to a dynamic DIY stylee(y) that didnt get fitted with one from the factory?
got the part ordered just wanted to know what dynamic chassis numbers had the loom fitted as i need to find out if mine has the cable before i destroy the interior trim of the boot(n)
how does the boot light work:confused: as i can find no plunger that would activate it!!

Hi Peter. Mine is a 54 reg Dynamic which did not have the light fitted. I pulled the left hand wheel arch trim cover away and found a small white connector tucked behind with two fine wires attached, one red and one green I think it was. This is the connector which fits on the back of the official light. One wire becomes live when you open the boot, no plunger visible is must be done by the boot latch somehow. The other wire is earth return. Should be easy to connect to the Fiat light if you have one with a horizontal interior light bulb.
What Panda have you got? You seem dead keen on modifiying it, to see from the Rally comments. Mine is Dynamic Air-con with the roof bars but I had to fit my own CD player. I fancy some new wheels as the standard 13 inchers are poor. The 4by4 alloys look nice but too expensive. (y)

Anyone who has the bootlight fitted!
what colour is the cable that goes into the back of it?
i have found a pink / green stripe cable thats taped to the loom (located just inside left hand bootnearest you as you look inside the boot) underneath floor trim. can't work out what it would connect to even on higher spec motor / trim. any ideas:confused:
more to the point anyone got a wiring diagram? as haynes have been grateful engough not to have made a manual for our car!!

not blaming anyone??!!
just want to find out what the cables do that are spare??i need a switched 12v feed for a cigarette socket in boot:p

:p soz
what spec panda have you got?
have you seen the cable that i'm on about, been scratching my head as to what it would connect to?

Errrrr....I'm driving fords at the moment:eek: but I know abit about pandas.I'll look for this wire you mention next week.Cant see it on the wiring diagram anywhere.
There should be 2 wires going to interior light(RV & CB)as mentioned RV is battery live,CB earth from release switch.

Remove the interior carpet trim from ns inner wing (two screws on parcel shelf holder). Look for a white connector, with orange/white and red/green wires in, this is taped up just before the loom splits verically. This is the boot lamp connector. The switch is already fitted. Just plug a lamp in and refit trim.

Nope,it would state luggage compartment light.Interior lights refer to overhead front (and middle/rear if fitted) passenger compartment light.

Alot of manufacturers do a free 500mile/1 month courtesy check to pick up the kinda of fault you mention & to check everything is ok with the customer & they are happy with the car.Cant understand why Fiat dont do this check though?

As this seems to be a grey area and is obviously an issue to many, the boot light was removed from production models in 2005. Dealers are not responsible for checking that a part that shouldnt be on the vehicle IS fitted.

Some customers are having them fitted and paid for by customer services as a goodwill gesture.

Mistakes occur in advertising brochures due to modification or change of spec but this is stated in the small print that spec is subject to change.

Given that I think we have ascertained that we now know where the cable and connector is sitting and we have the braket with the hole cut in it for the light, the only thing we need is the actual light fitting and bulb - which must only be a few quid, surely?

Does anybody have the part number for the light fitting? I would be happy to snap it into the slot and run the connector wire up to it myself.

Thanks,
Creamola
