Good morning fellow forum people!

I m new to the forum and it seem to be tradition to say a few introduction words so allow me :)

I m a big'ish guy (6"3/200pounds) but I ve always loved small nippy cars.
I started my motoring 'career' in France 15 years ago on a cool purple twingo (loved those lay flat seats, transforming a purple yoke in a double bed love shack). Followed a serie of unnoticable bangers and probable death traps... i m still here so i m a lucky guy I guess.
Fast forwarding to a cool Golf cabriolet bagged me my now wife and mother of my child.
That meant me getting a 320i estate then an A6 1.8t. After that I cracked up and got myself a lil mini cooper S.
The mini was a short love affair as her heart literaly exploded 2 months after I got her... ouch, my pride...

Now. last week I was on the market for a small, sensible, economical, RELIABLE second car to do my short daily work commute.
Clio? C3? 207? I even tried a Punto... And 8 years ago I sworn to myself I would never set foot in one ever again after my then Punto sporting decided to part with its back wheel... while I was doing 60mph on a back road. Amazing way to fully wake up in the morning, and to slighty pee yourself...

SO. I m now the proud new owner of a lovely little white 05 Panda 1.2(60) with 50k miles on it.
Great little car, very capable and a 'happy' car.

My question for you now is not critical but it's been bugging me:
What is that little round grille/vent on the dashboard just above the gear lever???

Does it have any function at all or is it just there to fill the space (with a hole)?

Hi,

I believe it's the cabin sensor for the climate control systems fitted to Eleganza models. When you set the temperature of the climate control, it's this sensor which regulates the temperature.

Matt.

So If I don't have A/C in my car, i can cover the vent/hole (the grille is half broken)...
Thanks Matthew.

Hi,

I would guess you can. On my car which has climate control, you can see the sensor behind the grill. If I was you, I would remove the grill (I guess you can just pull it off) and have a look inside. I imagine it'll be empty and therefore you could blank it off.

Matt.

and the two grills on the dash directly above the two rotating air flaps, what's the point of those?!

If (in your post immediately above mine) you mean the circular grilles at either end of the dashboard, by the bottom of the 'A' pillar, these blow air towards the windows in the doors. I assume this is in case you have the vent pointing at yourself, so there is always some air blowing at the windows.

Was wondering what that grille was for, used mine as a gluing point to mount an FM transmitter.
