Little panda went to local garage today for oil/filter and light reset oilfilter was £10.38 total parts was 43.69 Guess what the labour was for this little job? Standard Labour £52.50 I now have Shares in my local garage The other reason for not going there again is he said "could not find the light to reset it HE did not think a Fiat panda 16 valve diesel multijet had one (n)

If you paid by card. Contact the card provider..
Youve been charged for a service youve not received..
And its risked dpf damage..so youll have to pay to get it done properly

SEARCH regen on here..

Some of the less technical OBD readers do not cover service reset counters. Maybe they just don't have suitable tools. Not very impressive if that is the case. I would probably ask for a partial refund if you asked and they didn't do.
I think your Panda is pre-DPF, in which case I believe it is more of an annoyance than a serious issue. I don't think it does anything except say "service due" or put a light on.

Would still like it to be right though, if it was me.

DPF-equipped cars will not regenerate if the counters are not reset properly.

Not sure if free version of MultiECUScan can reset the indicator and countet. If it can, then you can do it yourself in future for the outlay of a few pounds for an OBD cable. Then you can service it yourself and still have the countet reset properly.

What year is your car? That will give a clue as to DPF status, but I think it has one. If it has a DPF it probably needs a oil degredation counter reset as well as the service light. The free version of Multecuscan won't reset the service light on a 16V multijet Panda.
If you are near Cambridge I can do it for you.

Robert G8RPI.

If I remember correctly, this is a 2009 Multijet so there shouldn't be a dpf as it's too early to have had one.

Yes.. 2009...
My sons 58 reg FORD had dpfs As OPTIONAL..

so could have been specced..??

Does the VED/tax band give it away

What did the BLUE 'J' signify..??

Charlie

I don't recall it ever being an option on the Panda; it was either part of the specification of the car, or it wasn't. I don't think the Euro4 MJet would have one; IIRC the Euro5 engines weren't fitted to the Panda until mid-2010 (at the same time the 1.1 was dropped from the range; that one never made it into Euro5 form).

The 500 is different; the engines were built to Euro5 spec from launch, but only homologated to Euro 5 from the 2010 model year onward (the revised rear beam is the giveaway here). My understanding is that all diesel 500's have a DPF regardless of year, though I can't be absolutely certain of this.

A check on Eper against the VIN should provide a definitive answer as to what should be there for any specific car.

The J on the badge was blue from the first one in 2005. Mine was blue at the start but the blue wore off. Might get new badge at some stage.

Thx Smurf..

I test drove an mj and didnt like it..

Thats my total experience if the 1.3...

;)

Different folks, different strokes...

I test drove a 1.1 and didn't like it. I liked the Climbing but not the 1.2 in it. The 1.2 was OK but I preferred the diesel. Might just have been that I had learnt to drive in the diesel Peugeot 205 originally.

I later test drove the 100HP and I couldn't have lived with the hard ride.

My ideal would have been the Cross, but it came out too late for me. I don't tend to change cars that often. My Panda is my second car I've owned since I purchased my first car in September 1994. It's tough trying to sell me a new one when the old one works perfectly well! :p

varesecrazy, if your right I have one the letter in the middle of multijet is blue I did wonder about that.

FOUND THE Specialist Varesecrazy Called Italia speed and it is Just in the next village That will be brilliant if they can help Many thanks

up-date all Iwill say is still need the service counter resetting, anyone know if a dealer will just reset the service counter?? and how much, I also have to get immobilsor code as I do not have it, But have just been told only need it if I losse my key?? Beginning to wonder if the panda was a good idea? IT is very easy to work on but getting silly things done like service light is maddening,
AS for parts I have found motorist discount centre great for me parts and I get a good Discount.
