hi all i have a 2011 1.2 panda dynamic and when i took the glove box out to fit a parrot phone system in i disconected the passenger air bag switch and took it out but when i put it back there is the amber light staying on the dash which has a number 2 on it and it will not go out even if i switch it off and back on again, ? any ideas of what is wrong

Re-check the connection to the airbag disable switch.
If that isn't the problem, it may be that you have damaged the switch (they aren't very robust).
Often happens if glovebox is pulled forwards before switch is disconnected and removed.
If you have damaged it, I would suggest getting a replacement rather than trying repair.
You will need to swap the barrel over if you change the switch as they are not a generic fit. Easy to do, just remove clip while key is in barrel, and transfer to new switch.

I broke mine. And used a punto switch from a scrap car.

If memory serves..I needed to clear the stored fault with MES

Mine broke when I removed the glove box to fit a 12v socket.

The plastic on the back of them must be the cheapest bottom of the barrel stuff, seems to break as soon as you set eyes on it!

You can grab a new/second hand one off ebay and replace as described above for a few quid. Mine didn't need any error codes cleared once replaced.

thanks for that and yes i did take the glove box out and the connection part of the switch broke off and i glued it back on again and it did not work so i will look for a replacement thank you,

thanks i think thats what the 2 must be 2 faults because i did break the switch taking it out the end broke off but i would like to know what this MES is and how to take the faults off i do have a diagnostic machine i got off ebay and plugged it in but it said no faults

most EBAY code readers are for ENGINE ONLY.., got a good one of those myself,

I broke mine getting access to change the heater matrix.., covered in the GUIDE

MultiECUScan,
is a software program that basically deals with Magnetti Marelli and BOSCH systems found in FIAT group cars, and therefore often useful for other vehicles with Marelli Engine kit, etc.

the FREE version does the engine codes,
and LIMITED other stuff,

but for 50EURO's you get your own licensed version,
which has full functionality..,

in the 4 years with mine,
it appears the only realworld thing that it cannot do - compared to the FIAT / ALFA dealers "examiner" - is code KEYS to the vehicles ECU.

from the drivers seat.. you can see what temps the various sensors are telling the ECU ,
you can drive the radiator cooling fan , aircon compressor,
fuel pump, check rail pressures.
as well as reading and clearing Airbag , ABS , ESP,

setting-up auto gearbox.., and other useful stuff.
like seeing how many KM's the ECU thinks the vehicle has covered.., how many times the ECU has been modified

if you are anywhere near Oxford you are more than welcome to a Demo..,

Not sure which dash you have, but I think the 2 may refer to the passenger airbag. On mine that symbol shows when the passenger airbag is switched off. (At least I think it does - will try it when I can get to the car....)
I think that it may just be reporting that the airbag is disabled, and when you fix the switch it will go out with no need to clear any errors.
