Hi guys,

I have had this noise from my 1.2 Panda for as long as I can remember. I took it to FIAT for them to say ''all is fine'' but I cannot understand what the noise is.

Obviously I can heard the 'injectors' clicking but it's the whirling sound (sounds like a bad bearing) or metal rubbing together; sounds awful. But the dealer said all is well.

The engine is the later 169A4000, and mine is the 188A4000 but the noise is the same. Also, I can hear the injectors ticking, that's the not the problem, it's the whirring noise that bugs me. Sounds like a bearing or metal rubbing.

Noise is clearly heard between - 10 seconds and 20 seconds in the video.

Forgot to add;

I have replaced the cam belt, tensioner & water pump back in January 2015. Then recently I changed the drive belt with tensioner.

The noise still remains. I wondering if it's a ''normal'' noise, even though to me it sounds awful.

Hi,

I think the noise has been there since I bought it back in January 2015 - prior to the fitting of the new components.

It is clearly heard in the video in my first post. The FIAT technician at the garage said the engine ran fine with no ''odd noises heard''

But still, the noise seems odd.

I've just watched another video on youtube of a FIAT Punto 1.2 with the 188A4000 which makes the same odd sound as mine.

I know these FIRE engines are an old design, so maybe that's how it's meant to sound. Although funnily enough, I've found modern petrols these days sound awfully a lot like diesels - with all their heavy tapping!
