So I've taken my 100hp in to have some work done, for them to inform me that the cambelt is badly misaligned and rubbing against the cylinder head.

Any ideas what could be causing it? All pulleys, tensioners are standard items as far as I know.

My guess is one of the toothed sprockets is seriously misaligned; possibly fitted backwards (if that's even possible), or missing a spacer.

Whatever, the cause needs to be found and fixed before you even try starting the car again.

I've had a look at it more closely this afternoon (The garage sent me the pics) and the belt is slightly closer to the head on the tensioner side of the cam pulley and slightly further away on the water pump side, leading me and the garage to believe that the tensioner may be the issue.

It's having a new belt/tensioner kit fitted before I do anything else, hopefully that'll cure the problem. We'll have to wait and see unfortunately.
