Hi guys

I'm still on the hunt for a Panda 100hp, one has turned up which is very nice and I have asked about the cambelt and it hasn't been changed

The car is a 2008 on 53k ish miles

Should I be very worried that it's over the 5 year recommended?

Thanks

No, but make changing it your first priority if you buy the car, and knock about £300 off what you would otherwise have paid for it.

TBH , if it's missed essential stuff like the cambelt, then It will require a PROPER full service .. look for @£500 off the asking price

ALL the FLUIDS, ALL the filters , does the HP have a variator too..??

Thanks guys, much appreciated

I think I will be waiting a little while longer as I don't want to risk it as its its catastrophic if it snaps

Knowing my luck it'll be on the way home!

I would wait for a better one to come up, many times I was fobbed off by dealers etc saying the panda they were trying to sell didnt require a cambelt change yet etc so I just waked away. The one I ended up with had full Fiat Service History including a cambelt at 28k/5 years (or something like that).

If its cheap enough, clean and tidy and everything works then why not.. just figure £300ish to do the belts/coolant and waterpump, if it makes you feel any better the garage that did mine (independent Fiat specialist) said they couldn't imagine the belt snapping as its pretty chunky.

Thanks for all the comments guys

I didn't realise the belts were chunky on the car but I suppose that's good to know!

It's just under 3k for the car, private sale

Sale swerved

Sellers sounds like hard work, no discount available, best one for sale etc etc, perfect condition, find a better one

Then maybe he should've looked through the book a bit more often and seen when the cambelt was due

I would support what someone else has said in that if it has had something so fundamental missed in its service history chances are there are other gaps in maintenance

I would always walk away from a car that was missing fundamental service history like this unless the actual service itself was due at present . So for example if you was looking at an 11 plate 100hp without the necessary miles on to necessitate an earlier belt change then I would consider it if the seller was knocking the price of the currently due service off the sale price plus a bit more for your own inconvenience in servicing right away .

But for a car that has been allowed to go well past that mileage or age requirement without a cam belt change I would hold out for something better .

of ours main dealer serviced it's worth giving them a call, mine was all stamped up with no mention of cam belt, but had been done according to the service records.
