Hi out there.
Can any one help , I have a major leak on the metal coolant pipe of a 2006 1.1 active Panda. I took it off and it resembled a flute there were that may holes in it. So off I went to the fiat dealership bought a new one only to find it doesn't fit. the sleeve going into the water pump housing is 30mm and the replacement part is 35mm. The dealership assures me it is the right part but obviously not. the part number is 55245750, I have also tried part number 55185422 but that is the same.
I have bodged the old pipe with chemical metal and it is holding at the minute but not for long I suspect.
Has any one got any ideas (y)
Thanks

Hi Yes , That seems the case but I cannot find information on which one .The Fiat dealer even had Fiat tech on the phone who cheerfully informed me to take the seal out of the pump and it will fit. No it won't it won't go in the hole I have tried 5mm is a massive clearance. But he could offer no more help.
So if they can't help and no one else has had this problem I am pretty much up the creek. I may try to sleeve the pipe but it's pointing to new car time all for the sake of a pipe. :bang:
Cheers anyway

Hi. I would ring a local Fiat/alfa specialist..they will be far more familiar with the options than the average main dealer..
an ebay or ePER search will soon reveal how many pipes vs pumps for the lil FIRE Engines

Hi , I did replace the water pump when I changed the timing belt. The problem is it's the water pump housing that's a different size and that's cast as part of the engine block, hence the extreme frustration.
Cheers

Hi ,
Yes I have been in touch with two fiat specialists on E-Bay who are as befuddled as us. I will try going an independent Fiat specialist I have found not too far away. I will let you know.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Went to an incredibly helpful fiat specialist who had never seen a water pipe housing like it but cut and braised the old pipes inlet flange onto the new pipe. There are still good mechanics out there who don't rely on computers.:worship:

It's obviously that time for Panda's from 2006!
My coolant pipe expired last week.
Not the best place for a steel pipe to live. If you have a Panda around that age, consider replacing it/getting it replaced. Also, check your rear brake shoes for signs of separation.
It's funny how these things bite you now and then.

I'll second the rear brake shoes. There's nothing like that brown pant moment when you realise "F*** I've got no brakes!" thanks to the mechanic who told me they were fine but obviously hadn't bothered looking given the effort the AA man had to remove the cover literally 5 weeks post-service.

Ok I love this forum but it does have its down side. Went to get a new pipe (just in case ) the parts guy was scratching his head wondering why he had sold the three that they keep in stock within an hour of opening.

I used them for flouro lined oil hoses. The only issue was that silicone is quite squashy so don't go too big on clamp/clip sizes.

I used ASH for 20mm OD flouro lined oil hose - very good stuff. Being small diameter and squashy, it needs hose clips the next size down and wind them almost right open for fitting. The "correct" size clip would go D shape before the hose was fully clamped. Larger hoses should be fine.
