Hi All

We had this car for almost 5 years now, and it has been great. Now it has done 45000 miles. Do we have to get the new timing belt done?

Last week I put the car for MOT and it failed for rear shock absorbers, so need to get new one fitted as well. But they mentioned about the timing belt needing to be replaced.

My question is would it be better to get them done by general motor garage like Kwikfit? Or would it better to be done by the Fiat Garage such as Arnold Clark? Price difference was very little.

Thanks for your feedback in advance.

Please don't use Kwikfit!

Yeah, I agree. They try their old "I can't let you drive this car away without fixing.." trick. Complete BS, if you do go, be clear about what you want checked and done and tell them they have no permission to take things apart they don't need to for their 'Complementary Checks'!

I agree with SPORTPACK50, avoid Kwikfix!!
I'd Google Trust my Garage & find a member near you.
I think the Timing belt is 56,000 or 5 years so it's about due on time. Have a water pump & a new 'fan' belt whist it's being done too :)

Recently had discs and pads replaced on my skoda (not our Panda) at Quikfit only because it was more convenient that the skoda dealer. When car was returned brakes were dreadful with a pumping through the pedal. Back next morning, I was staggered they don't have the tools to test things like disc run out, so they replaced with a new set of discs found it was ok, put the first set back on just to confirm in their own minds it was the discs then went back to the second set. They were £25 dearer than the main dealer too. Long tale just to agree with what others said, avoid.
