I’m hoping someone can help with a really simple query. Two weeks ago I bought a 2009 Fiat Panda Active Eco. There was no socket to plug in my sat-nav so today I have had a 12v socket installed at my local Fiat dealer. So far so good, but on the way home I noticed that all the lights were lit up on the buttons for the fog light, city steering, hazard lights and rear window heater, and also the electric windows, (but not on the controls for the fan/heater). I don’t remember any of these lights being on constantly before and I thought that they were only supposed to come on when the headlights were turned on. I have not had the car for long enough to be certain that I'm right and wondered if someone with a similar vehicle could tell me if their instrument lights are on all the time, or do they just come on when you turn on the headlights. I think the garage may have muddled the electrics whilst installing the socket but wanted to confirm before I go back to complain. Thanks in anticipation. :)

Hi mate, doesn't sound good. But also doesn't sound bad or irreversible.

Good luck on getting it sorted. Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

Thanks for the sympathy. It's not the end of the world, but it's just bugging me having all those little orange lights winking at me when I'm sure they should be off! I'm convinced the garage will tell me that they are supposed to be on anyway even if they're not, so thought I'd see if anyone could confirm that theirs do all stay off when the headlights/sidelights are not in use.

My leccy window switches were always lit up so long as the ignition was on, can't remember about the other lights. Think they were too though, mine was only a Dynamic so there were a few blanks there. I sometimes caught a glimpse of it and thought it odd that they were wired that way. My car was an 09 too, though I'm sure my 05 was the same.
