Hi,

The clutch pedal on my 1.1 '09 Panda has broken at the top, it still works but I'm not sure for how long it will last or what other damage it will do as it has a huge amount of play in use. It seems to have broken in exactly the same place as the one in this thread: https://www.fiatforum.com/500/204235-wobbly-clutch-pedal-6.html

I've got quotes from a Fiat garage to replace it (£310) and a local garage which has good reviews (£265) which is a lot of money for a broke student, but was wondering if it was something I could do myself and if anyone has had to remove/replace a clutch pedal and could give me some tips/ideas on tools required. I do my own basic servicing and also bicycle repairs to give some idea of my skill level.

Also the local garage says that the part costs around £100 (included in their quote). There is a clutch pedal for a Fiat 500 on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-500-clutch-pedal-/181645540718?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a4aeafd6e for £35. Is this the same part as for the Panda? Even if I can't do the repair myself being able to supply a cheap part would make a huge difference to the final cost.

Thanks for helping.

Bought the Fiat 500 clutch pedal and can confirm it is the right part. Fitting took about 45 minutes and is not too difficult although very fiddly and requires working in a tight space. I took photos so when I get a chance I will write up a short guide. £35 and 45 minutes work for a mechanical klutz. Assuming Fiat dealer would have taken the same time and used a new £100 part that's still over £200p/h labour they wanted.

I got in contact with Fiat Ancaster the pedal alone will be £142 (n)

I'am inquiring at other sources at this ridiculous price and rip one out a scrap yard possibly by next week when I get time!

The other thing i was talking to a mechanic on the phone that I need to replace the clutch cable also?

Anyone had experience of this and why? Is it best to replace as well?

He's talking out of his a**e. I'd suggest you find a better mechanic.

RHD cars don't have a clutch cable - the clutch is operated hydraulically. The clutch master cylinder is bolted to the bulkhead just the other side of the clutch pedal and is connected by a short pushrod.

Hi,

I have a 2010 Fiat 500 1.4. I also have a broken clutch pedal, I have ordred the new part however I am wondering if anybody can offer some advise into how to replace it?

I have seen on the forum people doping it with easy however I have ot see any advise on the replacement with start/stop.

It seems quite straight forward, i just cant see what needs to be removed at the top of the pedal to release it.

Thanks in advance.

My car didn't have stop start, so it might be different, but in mine there is just a circlip holding it on. Have a search on the forum, I did post photos, but no longer have copies.

A failing clutch gets very heavy before the pedal is at full travel. Driver heaving hard to release the clutch can overload the pedal.
While you are on the job get the clutch hydraulics bled to see if the action improves.
