Styling Any personal experience on seat covers?

Any personal experience on seat covers (possibly with pictures).
I am interested in leather/leatherette but cloth is fine too.

You can get seat covers custom made in some places. I went for this option on mine for a number of reasons.

1. I had ordered blue seats and the car was delivered with mustard ones instead therefore the dealer said that they would go halfers with me for seat covers.

2. I have the split folding and sliding rear seat and normal seat covers wouldn't be any good for that.

3. I was able to solve the problem of the sliding rear seat (where when it's forward you could see the contents of the boot) by getting an extra flap built in to solve this.

4. The place I went to could make the seat covers in any material you wanted and they fit perfectly.

I had to leave my car with them for a day as they needed to measure up. They look like the seats rather than just covers and almost 10 years on and 96K miles, they're holding up well.

I'm in Northern Ireland though so you'd have to find somewhere local to you.

I bought some deluxe fabric ones from Halfords. They seemed OK but only lasted about 2 years before the inside foam all turned to powder. My new ones are cheap "Carbon" branded ones which I think came form lidl. Much cheaper and seem a bit better.

As promised, I took a few pics of my seat covers today...
As it was rainy, I had to just keep the car in the garage which was a bit on the dark side.

Please remember that these seat covers are almost ten years old and the car has done 96K miles (with kids and prams, etc included)!

I chose two greys and the stitching was done in yellow to blend in with the yellow car. This is a close-up of the driver seat squab.

As the passenger seat has a pocket in the rear, I got the covers made with a pocket which fits into the pocket so it can still be used. I forgot to take a photo of this feature...

I got the backs of the rear seats done in a washable vinyl so I can give them a wipe after I have something dirty in the boot.

And to solve the gap problem when the rear seat was fully forward, flaps were added which velcro to the parcel shelf to hide anything in the boot from view.

Hopefully that will give you some ideas for if you decide to get seat covers custom made...

I cleaned them with pro products such as Mafra Flash, Mafra 3 in 1 and there are still those ugly stains. :bang:
They were too many years old, never wait to clean stains on seats!

I think my seat covers cost £240 iirc (half paid for by dealer) but they have been well worth it and they do clean up nicely (whenever I get around to it as they're not so clean at the minute)...
