Hi
We own a 2000 punto, which needs a bit of work so my wife fancys a new car. It has to be reliable and cheap, thats it.

Looking at the 1.3 disel panda, for £6500 new.

Question is after reading a few owner reports on the web, I think there could be a few reliability problems, I know there will be loads of cars running great with out any praise. Is this a concern? or just a few bad cars?

Cheers for any input.

i think there must be about 30-40 new panda owners in the forum now, and as far as i can remember, no one has yet reported a major reliability issue, practically all the issues are minor niggly things.

We have ordered it, in red as well for £6500, only 6moths tax though.

Hope it meets expectations, I really fancied the diesel although it cost more at the pumps now, typical.

Used drivethedeal.co.uk as the bargaining tool, just hope the after sales service is good, our punto was great, no real problems with it, just cheap motoring.

Cheers

Hi Macca, have a look at my reply under Panda Diesel, I got mine with 3,000 km ( Yes we have Kilometres now, progress they say) as a Demo - it has over 15,000 KM now and no problems. I think that Fiat may have this reliability thing licked - hope I am not talking too soon. Still with a four year back up, should be ok. That is some price for a Diesel, over there, they are €14250 in Dynamic trim with some bits and pieces added, still, 6,500 Sterling converted to Euro is still a v good price. Hope it goes well for you, the price of diesel at the pump may be rising, but I average about 65 MPG so it will all help. BJ

Filled up my car today(Panda on Friday) Diesel 4p a Lt more, remeber when it was a cheaper fuel, typical !!.

Once had an old diesel escort 1.6, no power steering, that pumped up your arms !,great running costs though.

looking forward to the new car, well it will be my wifes, I have a marea estate which gets loaded with water sports kit and buckets of sand that go with it, so it will be nice to get in a clean car again.

Has anyone tried vegetable oil instead of deisel????
I know someone who runs on half and half ..... the veg oil he gets for about 40p per litre!
