Hi all - me again

You may remember I posted a while about having water trapped in my car and you all very kindly advised me on how to find my scuttle board drains, which I am now a pro at locating and check them monthly and rinse them through to stop any grit from building up. However, it turned out the problem was actually trapped water in the passengeer car door and I needed a new seal, which has been fixed. However, over the last week I have noticed the same thing occuring. Whenever I turn round a corner I can sometimes hear water; which sounds like it is coming from behind the dashboard. I have already done the following:

Checked engine coolant level when engine was cold - this is at maximum.
Checked scuttle board drains - clear and dry

I have to say that while the passenger footwell is maybe slightly damp, nothing that is alarming and could well be due to the residue from the leak from the car door. I did have the air con running quite a bit following this to try and dry the moisture out of the air, so I was thinking that maybe water is trapped in my air con?

I just wondered, as everyone was so helpful before, if anyone could provide me with an idiots guide of things to check. It could well be that there is still water trapped in the car door but I dont know how to check this and how I could clear them. Also,is there anywhere else water could potentially be trapped, and if so how do I check and how do I clear.

Thanking you all in advance.

It could be an air lock in the system. There are guides on how to properly bleed it

Can an air lock just occur? Presumably air will slowly work its way of the system over the course of time and once the car has been used a bit more?

There will be a source of the air - hopefully something simple/cheap like a defective expansion tank cap - if it is air in the cooling system.

If it's AC, then the drain(s) for that ought to be checked too.

Can you tell me where the A/C drains are located? Are they easy to get to?

hi again Lorna,
the drain should be an open tube , that dumps " condensate" onto the ground,
it's possible you've got a split pipe, loose union, that is dripping it into the heater box / lower dash are,

pretty sure MostEasterlyPandas
has done a similar job,

always worth a look on ePER - for ideas of what goes where..,

Okay, so is this tube under car? I've not noticed any leaks on the floor, so could it be something else entirely? The swishing was not noticeable today.

This link opens the ePER parts catalogue (in Russian!)
http://fiat.ilcats.ru/part/vinfilte.../1/subsubgroup/50101|05/var/2/rev/0/pid/14219

(this version opens bigger than the copy of ePER on this forum). Part numbered 1 or 7 are the aircon drain I think (Mine doesn't have a/c so not absolutely sure) This would connect through the floor of the car between the left foot 'footrest' and where the steering mechanism goes through the floor. If the aircon runs long enough, water should drip from this and onto the ground under the car. The amount of water in here should be very small though, and I doublt you'd hear it 'sloshing about'
