Ok yeah I remember the two square ones
I think my mum tried one with a double sun roof, It didn't stop!
So she had a Renault 5
So I have a MK3a small mirrors lol

You have spoken sacrilege on this site.........you are doomed!

Mk1 = original square one with metal grille and leaf-spring suspension. Beautiful machine.

Mk2 = Like Mk1 but with plastic grille and flared rear arches and other junk

Mk3 = 2003 on classic beauty like yours

Mk4 = bland jelly mould with hideous interior designed, presumably, by Perfect Curve, who mockingly helped us to enjoy the Jubilympics and the new BBC 'app' look, in 2012 and W1A respectively.

I still liked your post... -- even though I think the Mk4 is extremely well-designed; and there is definitely no junk attached to a Mk2 (I have three of them: so I'd know...!); and there were some Mk1s with plastic grilles, I believe...! :p

I didn't have the specifics to determine the Mk1/2 difference (hence 'junk') - to the layman they're the same car. I owned a couple of 1984 Mk1 cars in the late 1980s when you could buy them for pennies at the local block. Absolutely and unequivocally the best car ever designed by Giugiaro.

I once saw an old dear driving a Panda 30 in Italy. It was mint. Possibly the most desirable model. 704cc Twin. Mmmmm.

Can't disagree with that...! (y)

Thank you for evangelizing the wee beasts in this section...! You should pop over to the Classic Panda asylum, sometime -- that way, you'll end up owning a couple more: they are seriously addictive...!

Well let me ask the worst question ever!
Standby....
What Is the difference between the Mk2 and Mk3.
To me The Mk1 is the square one, no offence!
We have a Mk2, and the new one is the Mk3 or have I missed something.
Do the big mirrors really count?
Educate me please

As above really, Mk1 and Mk2 look similar to the untrained eye, but have less parts in common than the mk3 and the current Fiat 500 ;)

What you're on about is more generations, just to confuse things. Mk1 and Mk2 fall under 1st generation, mk3 is 2nd generation, and mk4 is the 3rd generation (y)

Mk1 - 1980-1986
Mk2 - 1986-2003
Mk3 - 2003-2012
Mk4 - 2011/2012>

Layman layman layman!

Generations it is then.

Thank you all I have learnt something.

I think there were 2 first generation Pandas there.
The white one, and a greeny blue one.

Why do I get the feeling that the latest generation is not loved quite as much.....

It has grown on me, however I would find it hard to choose from the hideous colours available. That and the fact that when I configured one with the options I have on my own Panda, it came to £15k which is an awful lot more than I paid for mine new in 2005 (£8500).

£15k for a Panda !? That's a lot of money for what a Panda really is. You can pick up a brand new Fiesta ST (from a broker) for just under 15 grand...that's a lot more car (and performance) for your money.

Yeah I'm a sucker for optional extras! I went a bit overboard with options when I had the chance. Lol
