That paint does tend to be thin on them, could of just done a lot of motorway journeys.
If buying private your get a feel from the owner what they are like and how they have cared for the car, if they can't tell you the last time it was serviced or where it was serviced that is never a good sign! Rear tyre wear if the same on each side could just be the tracking needs doing if it was only on one side I would say it was abit more suspicious!
Good luck and fingers crossed you find a good one!

Sounds like it has a few issues, I guess the dealer will also tell you what you want to hear!
You would already be looking at £300 to replace the tyres/shocks and bump stop get them to knock it of the price!!

Looks nice, I had the same amount of stone chips on mine, I guess it will have abit of wear as it is 4 years old, the rear trim not fitting flat on the rear I have on mine also some pandas seem to be fine others tend to look like that.
Trim looks clean so does the engine bay, if you feel happy with the test drive and got cash I would offer £3,700, just say you have worked out how much to replace the bits!
Just replace the rear with koni's for a better ride! (y)

A few signs to look for, 4 immaculate wheels, 4 Goodyear Eagle F1's or other decent tyre, a tasteful backbox, normal colour bulbs and lenses, normal ride height and just general OEM'ness.

I agree with the vast majority of that and its good advice. But normal colour bulbs, really? Im knocking on the door of 40 and look after my cars but I always change the horrid orange bulbs for chrome ones. I dont understand why anybody would not change from orange bulbs as there's no difference in operation.

Ok I walked slightly cheeky offer of 3750 rejected.
Cambelt only cost £27 plus couple of hours labour.... A Months warranty.

Plenty if cars out there pal although good examples are becoming rare and as a result expensive. It might be better to buy a car from a forum member. Gunmetalpo bought mine after talking to me on here. He realised how difficult it was to get a good one.

We have a 56 plate in red with 26k on the clock. the mrs has fallen in love with a TA4x4. It's going to be up for sale soon.

I came close to buying this, (I had to have a sandwich and a coffee for an hour, before I went back to see it.) but price was too high imo.
It wasn't a rough car, just had a few niggles.

There's a private one in Bradford on ebay that looks nice and appears to have been looked after.

:DI'll raise you with ten years and two grandchildren. The orange bulbs behind the clear lenses are just horrible:eek: As are the white siderepeaters on a black car.
No APK (Dutch MOT) problems with them either the past six years.

Ive always changed any orange bulbs for chrome ones and never had any issues with a UK MOT. Almost all manufacturers have now gone with the clear Lexus style lights. I always think it totally spoils the look when you have a crystal clear lense but then a big fat fried egg bulb. I totally understand what Maxi was saying. A car left OEM is generally better than a modified car. But I think a car with some tasteful cosmetic modifications can show that an owner is a car enthusiast. And who else but an enthusiast will make sure the car gets washed and waxed every week and really looked after.

I've been out looking at 1.4 100HP fiats today too :)

test drove the 500 with that engine, (engine was the only thing that appealed to me really, car seemed bloated and wasn't particularly nimble or sporty, not helped by the ivory ambience either) and the Panda 100HP too.

Panda wins, nice late model so big mirrors, 60 plate, 29k on the clock FSH and skydome.
Unfortunately finished in grey, dust and pigeon muck (diiiirty bastards). Only 1 goodyear tyre remaining, rest budget rubbish fitted by the dealer - and it's a Fiat dealer!

It drove well and felt tight and better on poor roads than the 500. Felt very at home in the cabin though the gear lever top had lost most of it's paint and the drivers seat was sagging on the right base support - which I didn't expect at 4 years and 29k.

I didn't commit as I want to see a red one in the flesh first - had it been red I would have.

Dealer offered 6month warranty, 12month MOT and a bit off the screen price.

After I left the dealer I rang my next choice but they said they were waiting for a customer to pay a deposit for it to go to salmondland.
It would have been another 2.5 hours to get there to have a look and there is a red one relatively on my doorstep just not with a skydome.

Get the feeling it's just a matter of time before I too have a 100HP on the drive :D

Mine picks up stone chips for a past time although to be fair I do a lot of miles, the front bumper will be getting a re-spray this year.

Yeah, for some reason the 500 just doesn't feel as much of a firecracker as the 100hp.

Seats on 500's seem to hold up MUCH better than Panda ones though, I've never heard of anyone complaining about holes in seats like I've seen on Pandas.

Ivory ambience is always a turnoff for me, feels like it's trying to be too retro and IMHO it's quite a modern car.

Don't discount 500's though, some Bilstein B14's on one and it'll handle very nicely indeed :)

If you buy a 500, remember I know where you live...
The one you saw isn't worth that asking price, have you seen that red one with Abarth badges?

Went to see the one in Thirsk and it was sold but looked tatty.

Seen another one with abarth black badges near goole though on auto trader.

I do want a red one, though I've never seen a blue one in the tin, maybe that's worth checking out?

To be honest I'd have gone to Bristol and bought the red one had the finance been in place, low miles, FSH, excellent condition is what I want and a skydome would be the cherry on top. The dealer today knows how rare they are with skydome and knows eventually someone will buy it because of it.

Pandamonium pack too. It may have the sub, you can almost see it.

Downside, it's red with stupid mirrors.

I only buy red cars (LVJ was technically scrap) so :p

those mirrors are an acquired taste but I'm sure they could be swapped for the older smaller discrete type.

Factory painted calipers is a big win as todays car didn't have them and looked awful.

Factory sound system is pretty good once you tweak the EQ settings though I'm going for a built it satnav/ice in mine once I find one....

I've emailed the dealer - wantage reaching global proportions......
