Hello Folks,

Just bought a Panda 100hp as a run around then discovered the pistonheads article which is the actual car I have bought. ( wont let me link)

Great little car especially on the back roads where its a hoot. Coming from a Fiesta ST2 the plan is for cheap no hassle motoring as the car has had all major jobs done but find myself wanting to sort a few things.

A good clean and change of the mouldy pollen filter has improved the aroma in the car massively but it would appear the air con is not working.

Few questions. Will start with a re-gas but it would appear the compressor is not working. The wheel on the compressor outside of the pulley wheel I can turn by hand is this normal. Even when on it does not spin. There is no voltage on the plug to the compressor but fuses/ relay are ok. Does anyone have any wiring diagrams for the car?

Throttle response is quite jerky but linear and in sport mode is like an off switch. Is it normal ?

Back of the car feels very lively if you hit bumps mid bend which is very unsettling. Not sure if its just because the car is so firm, any experience?

Do you wave at fellow Panda drivers? :slayer:

I can't help with the air-con, but I can answer some of your other questions :).

Yes, it's normal for the back end to bounce about like a crazy thing if it hits a mid-corner bump which it doesn't take a fancy to, that's all part of the mad but loveable 100HP charm haha :p.

I always leave sport mode on and I have no problem using the throttle, it is quite sharp but it's easy enough to get used to and is much better than the limp, lifeless throttle response when you don't turn sport mode on. I came from a normal mk7 Fiesta and managed to adapt to the 100HP's throttle, so I'm sure you'll be fine coming from an ST :).

Btw, how is the 100HP to drive compared to the ST? I'll probably get an ST after my 100HP, so having someone with first hand experience of both on the forum is great (y)!

EDIT: Do I wave at other Panda drivers? No, but other 100HP drivers always get a wave and you always get a knowing wave back too, it's that kind of car :)!

FK automotive rear shocks should be around 20 notes for the pair shipped. :yum:
I have had them on my 100HP for about 3 months after seeing the tip on here, and am happy with them so far.

Thanks for the replies, glad there is nothing wrong with the car.

The Fiesta ST is in a totally different league. The ST ride is firm but not as hard as the Panda and is much more refined. Its so compliant and there is so much grip its very easy to make progress. The car is far more capable than my driving ability and quicker everywhere. It has traction control and ESP but that is not always a good thing. The Panda is fun and I found it very exciting the first time on a back road. Everything happens at a much slower speed yet feels closer to the edge.

The ST feels like luxury in comparison to the Panda. If you get one you will not be disappointed, its also cheaper to tax and a bit more economical.

Coming back to normal seats after the lovely Recaros takes a bit of getting used to.

Happy? As in 'happy you are still alive? :p

Being new to the Fiat world how is it possible to get shocks so cheap? Really am amazed and will have to investigate further.

Ah dont you just hate the hatters?! :D:D:D

Welcome to the club buddy. Any upgrade or moddification you will or want to do to the car will always come to budget you have. If you can afford Koni's get STR ones (no point for stort unless u planning track days) Check DCPerformance site as u cant beat their prices and service. Rears will be at £42 each. If you dont have a budget then FK dampers will still be better than a broken ones. I know few ppl who have FK's on their 100hp's and are happy with them.

Purist tent to just get Koni's to improve suspension (some swap 45's to 50's tyres, which makes it even more smooth). Better brake pads and stainless steel exhaust (not the loud and furious type) as exhaust rust pretty quick on these.

Rest will be always down to personal preferences and budget. Some mods that others might view as pointless you might see as useful and vice versa. Look around and make your own mind. (y)

:rumour:

Notice how non of the hatters actually own a 100HP model... ;)

I'm neither a hatter (someone who makes hats) or a hater (someone who hates), I really like the 100hp, but we've got a Panda 4x4, a 1.2 500 Lounge, a Legacy Turbo saloon and a Legacy estate so don't really have any need or space for a 100hp, just because you own a 100hp doesn't make your opinions any more worthwhile than those of anyone else on here whether they own a 100hp or not.

Ta,

Having looked around the site there is a vast amount of information which is great. Trying to get the Elearn download to work.

No plans to do much other than keep it in good condition and reliable as its going to be a second car. Having said that have a terrible urge to paint the brake calipers red or yellow. Will need to get a code reader at some point. Really enjoyed tinkering with the air con this morning as the car is dead easy to work, all components work.

Anybody any ideas where the air con pressure sensor is?

Oh no, the spelling police is back! I'm deeply hurt... :ROFLMAO:

Actually it does.

1 - first hand experience
2 - don't belong to bigots tea club
3 - provide non bias suggestions

I don't see you qualifying for any of the points above.

I draw your attention to The Beard's (he's a moderator in case you forgot) statement

Break. Go to your corners and get your Seconds to throw a bucket of cold water over you.

This is getting out of hand. Hopefully we're all mature enough to get over this and just get on with the rest of our lives, both in cyberspace as well as reality.

I've waded through the lot of this and to be honest, the whole thing is pretty tedious. We can all express our honest opinions and some people might not appreciate the comments of others but, a forum by its very nature is a place where discussions can take place and sometimes there is a consensus, sometimes not.

Over the past few years I've gained a lot of information, as well as entertainment from here and Alfa forums. I've had a laugh (mainly on here it has to be said) but if there is bickering, no matter who started it, long serving members can get fed up (there have been more than a few since I joined) and leave and new blood can be scared off.

I'm not going to choose sides here but those who have started to get insulting need to pack it in, or I'll lock this thread and if need be I'll move it "upstairs" and consider sanctions.

Now, play nice. I'll be watching.

For some inexplicable reason you seem completely unable to deal with any opinion that does not agree with yours. In the UK we have the right to respectfully express our opinions so you will either have to deal with it or ..... well.... deal with it.

I work in the manufacturing industry making tooling for the likes of Jaguar Land Rover, Daimler, Ford, GM and on a small scale also Ferrari.

As someone who sees every day how things are made and has dealt with poor parts from good and bad suppliers and good parts from the same..... I will say that almost always if something seems to cheap then it's probably rubbish.

Feel free to respectfully disagree with me, but don't go calling me a bigot, that might not be an insult to you, but it's an insult to me.

I am also looking at a fiesta st or Mini Cooper s/ abarth 500

You dont do anything respectfully, if you did we wouldn't have this conversation.

As for bigot comment, hey if you place yourself in that group I cant stop you. If you dont like it then in your own words "In the UK we have the right to respectfully express our opinions so you will either have to deal with it or ..... well.... deal with it." As for insults, it is a two way street, when you going to insult someones (taste, mod, opinion or spelling) make sure you can take some back or cross the street. Its that simple.

I really can't be bothered with you anymore, you simply don't seem to understand what a forum is for.

I have both reported your post and sent a PM to The Beard in the hope that someone can say something to you to in an effort to modify the way you behave.

I actually really quite like the 100hp, but your behaviour is creating a negative association in my mind and quite possibly the minds of others regarding this particular model. No one is allowed to so much as sneeze on a thread about a 100hp without being branded as a c**t, bigot or hater by yourself for some strange reason known only to yourself.

That did make me laugh out loud.

So not only you insult ppl but now u also threaten them. Something new to ur FF repertoire there. Bravo. I'm still baffled how u failed to modify ur behaviour on here after over 5 ppl told u that itsnt not the fact of ur opinion that affects others but the WAY u deliver it, like now, it just pretensions, rude, aggressive and now threatening. U never see me call ppl the way u do. I only respond against ppl who r just rude on here since moderators just leave it be. I really hope moderators will make a separate section just for 100HP as it is completely different from any other Panda model. This will keep ppl "with strong opinions" out and preserve the peace.

I'm fair but I dont take sh*t. Being Russian I will voice my opinion in black and white. But I never provoke others, if I dont like something I keep my mouth shut or voice my opinion in a way that wont insult anyone. So far I only had to voice myself in stronger manner against ppl who were plain rude on here and I wasnt the only one voicing my it against them too.
