My air conditioning stopped working after about 5 years of service. I thought the fix would be too expensive (it wasn't after all) and endured one hot summer without it. Last summer I found an inexpensive garage which said the tank or whatever was empty so they refilled it and checked if something was leaking somewhere. No leaking, my air con worked for almost a year. A month ago it started to make strange noises, and now it doesn't work at all, the compressor doesn't start, I suppose there is no liquid again. Do you think it is possible that the garage cannot detect any holes but there are some microscopic holes and I always lose the liquid after several months? It would be annoying having to get the stuff refilled every summer. They were using some contrasting stuff and said there are no visible problems, and after two weeks of driving they said if there is no leaking, it is most likely OK. Have you had any similar problems losing air con liquid after a few months?

That is one possibility, and the other is an actual damaged pipe this time around. Only way to check would be to get it pressure tested and refilled again.

What was the funny noise that it was making

the funny noise came back and the compressor is working again, but not sure if the air con is working, it is not hot enough outdoors to tell the difference between the normal cool air and the air conditioned cool air... the funnz noise is a kind of flapping sound in the air vents. Some kind of little things making some kind of flapping noise. It is the closest I can describe, maybe it is the last drops of the fluid and it is going to run out of fluid soon and the flapping sound is warning...
