How did you get the pins out of the aux cable you purchased? Did you manage it without hacking the yellow connector on the cable to bits?

Hacksaw and patience! Tried for a while to remove pins the correct way, but it's just to small and it looked like i'd damage the pins. So i cut them out, quite easy really.

Lloyd, how are you finding refitting the head unit, mine is a total pain to get back in due to the cable bunch - it takes absolutely ages and skinned knuckles ! (mind you it did originally have a lower slot position head unit before changing to the upper slot but full panel Blaupunkt OEM so the cables were well and truly 'formed' for the lower mount, they dont like the new position at all, and I have found no way of getting to the unit - I even tried from the instrument panel area ! - it goes back in, but feels as if it is compressing leads - and more than I would like....
Possibly you have same issue - maybe have found a cunning plan ? - or Matt ?

At the moment, I can only attempt to pull the cables underneath the unit as it slides home, but obviously, the last couple of inches one cannot get finger etc in...

ps, did you notice the tube thingy onthe back of the unit ? it has a locator in the housing and is adjustable in an offset circle to help align the head unit in the frame ! - very clever - (at the moment I am not using it due to the cable issues) - but I didnt realise it was adjustable... (y)

Hi, it actually slotted in fine no problems at all. Just had to feed them through the metal single din slot making sure they didnt bunch up.
So, sorry can't help there.. Guess i must be lucky..:)

Cap, my HU comes in and out easily too. Then again, my cables have had 6 years to form to the positioning of the Double Din unit, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

The biggest issue I have is getting the damned plugs out the back of the HU, they're incredibly stiff; you need fingers of steel!

you probably are doing it this way, but are you taking all 3 plugs out as one and then separating them? This is what i did and they came out easy. To be honest though there is no need to pull the plugs out. You can push the pins from the new lead straight in without removing them from the HU.

Yeah, you can't take them out one at a time because they split downwards, not upwards.

I already had an aux cable, I was just trying to get my sub to work at the same time.

I think my issue is that my cable were laying in position for the bottom din slot for 10 years, now I am making them lay in a new position... I have the scars to prove it lol.:(:)
Ah well, thats what you get for changing things haha..

I will tie bits of cord to them and force the buggers into the right place next time - the next time it comes out is to run the lead for the pseudo changer to its proper position - to the glove box - oh, and the new 12V feed to the glove box - I forgot about that  - that should then be final (fingers crossed !- after that it can stay where it is - I am not actually using any of the original red green blue at all now - that cable is pulled out and under which helps a bit.
Deep joy...
The joys of motoring eh what ? :D
