Hello all Panda Cross owners. Have any of you attempted to replace the bulb in the front indicator lamps? One of mine has misted-up on the nearside lamp; I was going to dry it out but soon discovered it isn't a simple screw fixing. It's a rather awkward honeycomb type screw head. Tried an Allen key but none of mine seemed fit; does anyone know what is needed. This seems to be a devious Fiat trick to make a simple job unnecessarily complicated (and a trip to the dealer) :bang:

Hi gr J
Thanks for replying. Yes, on the 4x4 Cross the front indicators are where the fog lamps are on other Pandas (that have fog lamps).
The lamp fitting looks identical (same size, etc); just an amber lens and of course wired to give flashing indicator signal.

Hi,
Worked on it again this morning (after apply WD40 to screws overnight).
Success! Managed to release the black plastic housing-screws with a 3mm tip screwdriver.
Not the official tool but it griped well and worked fine. Oh joy! Removed lamp unit (with fractionally smaller screwdriver) and dried out the lens using a hair drier. Job done!

No, I didn't need new bolts; the originals were O.K.
I lubricated them well before replacing them.
Good to have a nice clear lens cover again. I don't know how the damp had managed to get in; the rubber housing was in good condition. But here in the U.K. we have just had the wettest winter on record, so I guess that had something to do with it. Thanks for your interest and replies. Cheers!;)

Get yourself some of this..

We use it all the time in the marine industry, also used in aircraft, (it is a Zinc Chromate compound) it will stop corrosion between dissimilar OR similar metals without leaving a greasy residue for cr&p to adhere to.
1 tube will last a lifetime..
Every good toolbox should have one. - that, and white lithium grease for other bolts / screws / joints etc that you can wipe after application.

Silicone spray is also good, dont buy the expensive stuff, but back to black for tyres, or clear cockpit spray - same stuff at a fraction of the price.. use that on door hinges etc. just dont ever, never ever use it in the cockpit, it looks like it just came out of Dougs' Dodgy Motors Ltd...

Good information; I'll get myself a tube.
Also interesting is your info' on Silicone spray; I had no idea that back to black for tyres, or clear cockpit spray, are Silicone spray in disguise. Cheers (y)

no one seemed to answer the actual question - the bolts that secure those lights are not Allen screws, but Torx screws -- many of the 'what look like Allen bolts' on the Panda are Torx, so worth buying a set of Torx keys or drivers...

Thanks for that extra bit of info' Hillhopper; my knowledge of Pandas is coming on a treat, thanks to all of you here on the Panda FF. :)
