i have a 2005 panda which has had the abs light come on also abs failure
lights up on the dash
had it checked at a garage which said o/s front senser was at fault
i have now put a new senser on the car but still have the same fault
the car reads no fault code found when hooked up to 2 different code readers all lights up when key is turned then goes off as normal
then within a couple of seconds abs lights and failure lights up

1st i used a ob11 reader then i took it to a local garage who pluged it into a proper code reader nothing no codes  found but £35 lighter
they said i could book it in with them and they would check it over at £48 hour but thougt i would try on here first

mine had recall but they replaced parts not the "module" as described in recall, Fiat refusing to sort.

How recently was the ECU recall work done? If it was last week dont take no for an answer. Obviously, if it was longer you are on your own.

This with the correct leads should find the fault codes
http://www.multiecuscan.net

When an ABS sensor fails the code will be along the lines of "sensor fault"

When the ABS magnets fail it will say "no ABS signal"

You might need a new wheel bearing/hub.

For Fiat ABS you need a Fiat specific reader. Some garages will subscribe to diagnostic services, others don't, so they may not have the ability to read the ABS module. Needs MultiECUscan (MES) (Search on here for explanation) or Fiat dealer. (Last resort)

Has any other work been done just before the failure? Wheel bearing, or any other work on a hub?
Has anyone cleaned under the bonnet, or has the car been through any deep water or puddles to cause any water issues with underbonnet connections?

Update your profile to show your location. There may be someone nearby with MES who can read the codes for you.
