Buoyed on by success in banishing the well-known Panda passenger airbag rattle, I've been working through curing various other rattles in my 2005 MJ Dynamic. The worst comes from the headrest in one of the front seats - the headrest support rods seem to be loose. I can't work out how to release the seat cover, in order to gain access to the inner structure to fix this.

Can anyone explain how I get the seat cover off? I need to get it back on, of course.

Head restraint, is it the none removable type I take it then?

Seat covers do not remove with ease

You'll find it easier to unbolt the seat from the car and turn it upside down to access and release the bottom of it

OK - thanks for that. The seats do have the non-removable head restraints. At least removing the seat only involves four easily accessible bolts, so (weather permitting) this could be a job for tomorrow!

I've done a rear bench seat once and never ever again! I was going to do the fronts but didn't bother when I found out what a pig the rear was to do - although the cover did come up well in the wash, but still wasn't worth the hassle IMO

I take it you are aware that there are two release buttons for the head rests? One has a button you can see and push with a finger. But the one on the other 'rod' sits flush with the its plastic surround, This can be pushed in using a flat object (the end of the key is perfect) Push both and the headrests will come right out

There's a trick - push the release with your finger and raise headrest as far as it will go. Then press release on the other rod while still pulling up on the headrest. Then it will come free
(Again why are photos upside down? Fine when viewed on the computer!)

Many thanks for this old thread - found it very useful. Trying to fit some seat covers from a well known German discount chain to our newly acquired Panda, and thought I'd fallen at the first hurdle till discovering this thread!

I found the best way to wash car seat was with a wet vacuum cleaner. Sponge a small area then quickly suck the dirty water out. Repeat as needed and finish with clean water to rinse. Then move to the next small area.
