Hello everyone, my problem is solved but because i got a lot of help from here and a lot of other people seem to have the same problem i thought i let know how it got fixed.

My Panda is five years old, its a Multijet 1.3 around 90.000km, i´m the first owner and i drive long distances with it weekly and i don´t know much about cars.

In December 2012 on the highway the engine started holding back, first just for a few seconds, the next days it got worse and worse until it went into limp mode and the injection warning light went on.
I took it to an official Fiat dealer, there they said the air flow sensor didn´t work properly and 2 injectors needed to be replaced, it would cost between 1000 and 1500 euro. I asked them if it would make sense to replace only the sensor and then to see if the car drove normal again, they said this would not fix the problem.
I told them i would come to pick up the car, then they said it drives normal again, they had resetted the cars computer and disconneted the air flow sensor, this way it was possible to drive normal again although the injection warning light stayed on.
When i connected the air flow sensor the light went out but it started holding back again so i bought an new sensor on ebay for 70 euro, installed it (its the easiest thing) and the car is driving normal the last two months.

One time, driving with the air flow sensor disconneted, i got the expensive diesel from Shell instead of the cheapest one i always get, this caused the engine to stop and jump on again while driving. When i got the cheap diesel again this happened no more.

This was the first mechanical problem i ever had with the Panda so I guess it happens to a lot of people, hope this can help to fix it

Hello Sven,

I am interested in your post about Shell V-Power making your engine run and act in a different way. Can you describe this in a bit more detail? To other forum members (diesel): has this ever been a problem for you with that expensive diesel?

I am asking since I have a problem with (potentially) a faulty injector, but it definitely became WORSE after filling with Shell V-Power (damn more expensive!). I don't know if it is simply coincidence or causality, but it struck me as strange that you had a similar sort of experience. Logically, of course, it shouldn't make a negative difference.

Thanks friends.

It would happen when accelarating, going over a bump and just when driving at a constant speed. The engine goes out (and everything electric also) and then jumps back to life. Most times the engine would jump on again immediately but sometimes it took a few seconds (not nice driving on a busy ringway). The first time this happened was when i drove out of the shell gasstation. When i got the diesel from the supermarket again it didn´t happen anymore.

I have no explanation why this happened. I read somewhere Pandas are designed to run on cheap diesel not expensive powerful one, I guess that makes sense.

I read about your problem, i wish you good luck..
Sven
