Unfortunately our 100HP has recently developed intermittent radio reception. Occasionaly all works well but most of the time it fails to pick up any radio station, FM or otherwise. I'll take it out to check all connections next week but does this sound like a familiar problem to anyone?

I assume you have checked someone hasn't knicked your aerial, also if the aerial is still there have you put the car through a car wash recently, if there's a wire that's fractured that'll cause loss of reception. I'd go to the dealer and ask to borrow an ariel and try that first. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.

Aerial is indeed still on and all tight. I don't use car washes and it looks externally in perfect condition. I will try another aerial, plus I'll check the connections behind the head unit......

Does the aerial even work? I took mine off while the radio was on and if anything it got louder as if it was receiving a stronger signal.

My reception was terrible, actually practically non-existent when I bought my panda. After lots of poking around and scratching my head, I found somewhere on the net about water entering the base of the aerial. I checked mine by removing and taking apart. It didn’t look very new.

Bought one of these and fitted it. It’s been perfect since.

My money would be on it causing the problem.

It’s pretty easy to replace diy. Get the head lining down a bit at the back and the rest is obvious

It has certainly started doing it since the bad rain period, so that does sound likely. Did yours just look very heavilly corroded, or something else?

There's some electronics in there and it was obvious that it had got wet, imagine it wouldn't take much water to ruin it. Wasn't heavily corroded, but was pretty obvious that it had been damaged.

Cheers, Neil

Interestingly the radio has started working again, but I reckon your diagnosis sounds promising. I'll take a look and report back.....
