Hi all,

Does anybody have more info on some "lifting" conversions?

I'm contemplating 30mm suspension lift, and also 20-30mm wheel spacers and fitting some bigger tyres.

Not to go all out, but something in the line of this could work quite well..

Quite impressive looks!!! Your idea and development?

The idea is there, but the development will have to wait until the research is done, the 98pcd wheels quite limit one.

From what I can tell that is ATV rims and tires; not sure what the max speed rating is, but looks the part :)

I'm not sure if anyone on here runs Hankook IPikes; not sure if that is the next/best option to go for instead of atv ?. ..

The past weekend I had 3 separate punctures in one wheel; after multiple fixes (plugs and "patches") the tire eventually complete gave up... I'm done with "normal" car tires, had to drive ~250km (~155 miles) with that stupid Spare wheel rated at max 80km/h..

For what I'm doing I need extra ground clearance and a tire that can handle a lot of rocky and "tough" conditions.

From what I hear...

This is the maxxis..in 14" the smaller is 185r14 (which is 37 mm bigger than 185/65/14 in height), cargo load C for light trucks ie toyota hilux 2x4..quite heavy and reinforced. They can carry up to 850 kg each with max pressure up to 65 psi and 8 lines of wires.
Heavy duty, but hard tire. Most likely a lot of noise and less comfort, but suitable for your needs.

Those Maxxis tyres look great - but sadly don't think they'll fit in the wheel arches. There's not a lot of room at the forward edge of the rear arches, and at the front, I guess they'd catch on something before you reach the full steering lock. I still fancy something (maybe not quite a chunky as them) to put on my spare steel wheels... so let me know if anyone does try them :)

Thanks, hmmmm let the google searches begin..

Noticed that Maxxis has a big range of tires in the size: 185/70R14 ; as you mention not sure if this size will fit?

Thanks homeward, it helps to a degree, although it is said the "stock" tires are 185/65 14" ; I would like to fit bigger, not sure if this will clear the filler cap or arches, sofar can't see any specs on this, will most likely end up in a fit and see if it rubs something, especially on full lock. Hoping someone might have tried to fit 185 / 70 / 75 / 80 's already ;)

It WILL NOT fit. I'm sure of it. Herts was right. The gap between the tire and the front end of the arch is less than 2 cm.

Love the photos on your blog, can you tell me what wide angle lens/camera you use - those aren't with a camera phone are they? Very nice! :)

Thanks Hollister (y)
I'm using a Olympus E-PL1. Most of the photos are taken with the Kit lens. In the "suburban" post i'm using a walimex 8mm Fisheye lens from my brother. He has a Canon EOS camera so i had to put an adapter between my Camera and the lens. This caused that the fisheye effect got less, and it looks more like a wideangle lens.

Take into account (rapidly) accelerated wear on the driveshafts, wheel bearings and suspension bushes. Calculate price for adapted suspension: springs and dampers. Get used to (dramatic) increase in road noise and fuel use, reduced turning radius and road handling, and incorrect readings from your speedo including total mileage.

Just so you know what you're getting into :).

Plus one for wheel bearings. The 100HP seems to hammer them and that's simply got wider wheels. Large offsets will have you fitting them like consumables.

You will need to factor in a new final drive differential to correct the gearing. Larger wheels turn more slowly for a given road speed so 1st gear will fell like 2nd gear. The reduced final drive ratio will spoil any hill climbing ability.

Not posted here much but worry not about wheel bearings and wallow in the coolness!
Can’t help the fact that sometimes aesthetics win!!

Until your "go anywhere" 4WD gets stuck on a steep hill. Suddenly that coolness goes into reverse along with the car.

Bigfoot wheels will need new diff ratios and while you are at it fit LSDs at both ends.

Hello can somebody tell what tyres and rims are on fiat panda 4x4 big foot
