Hi Guys

The gear stick gaiter on my 100hp is as thin as tissue papers and has split.

I've bought a better quality replacement as well as a gear stick knob as the original is a bit scratched.

I've been told it's not possible to remove the original without taking a hacksaw to it.

Is this true ?

Has anyone replaced one before ?

Any help appreciated.

unclip gaiter, pull to one side, put small block of wood in hole.get a threaded bar and wind a nut up to level of gear knob, put spanner on nut and under knob, lever up,gear knob comes off.did mine like this no bother!

Is your car one Of the few left under two years old. If so its a warranty claim. I've had two new knobs and two new gaiters. Both within the first two years warranty. Plus I had the damp fail on the mute button resulting in a whole new steering wheel again under warranty. Two years and 47000 miles in and that's all I've had under warranty.

Hi Guys

As usual. Thanks for the help. The link is perfect and I'll get it done. As the original gaiter is paper thin you'd think they'd make it easier. Mind you if they did that we wouldn't love them so much.

I just need to replace my gaiter - I agree they are paper thin.
I thought I could cut seem at narrow end of gaiter and pull it over knob.
Then do same in reverse with new gaiter from eBay, then re stitch it.
