Panda vs pheasant at "about" 70mph.. seems a score draw.. Lots of damage and a properly dented radiator (smashed lower grill and front plate). Doesn't appear to be a leak and drove another 20 miles without temp issues, but anyone had problems with a bent radiator with some proper surface damage?

Annoyed.

My Panda ate a jay at 60mph when it was still very new and shiny. The damn thing managed to fly right into the grille under the numberplate and was still wedged in there when I got to work
Broke the grille and dented the radiator. That was over 70,000 miles ago! (grille still broken, radiator still dented).

Cheers.

Bad luck but Was it tasty!!! Post up some pics.. I'd like to see mashed front end of car and bird on the serving plate please.

Phew! That's a relief, misread your first message.

Thought it said you had run into a peasant

Rotten luck - and not so good for you either.

I had a similar encounter when my 100HP was about 5 months old just under three years ago - a search on the forum will bring up the thread - fortunately no mechanical damage - hit just below nearside headlight - but the insurance claim was about 800 quid if I remember correctly.

My Audi hit one about 20 years ago. Bill was £500 for new headlight, and new radiator. Pheasant was well cooked by the time car arrived home with it wedged in the grill.

I'm supprised at the damage. I had one on the M5 a few weeks ago. I saw the car infront dodge it , by the time I realised it was in the centre of my lane & I was being overtaken! BANG!!

No damage at all though.... Lucky I suppose?

Being a biker these things are bloody scary, you see one in the middle of the road and you have no idea what the stupid things are going to do next. Is it going to run away, is it going to make a bee line directly for you, you just don't know.

Pheasants must be one of the stupidest animals on the planet. I hate them, unless there in a pie!

All depends upon where it hits tbh.

I think I got it dead centre [no pun intended!] , it was moving from left to right, still going towards the centre of the M5 despite its near miss with the car in front.
You're right STUPID things. i'd think deadly on a bike too, I've had buses come in from Wrexham with broken screens after hitting them. One guy hit one right where the 3 parts of the screen join, broke them all!!

I belive if you stop & pick one up after hitting it is classed as poaching BUT if you just find it on the road its 'fair game'

Correct, it's against the law I believe.

I once hit one in the dead centre of the windscreen on a mk2 Classic Panda, my word did the screen flex, but luckily it didn't break, which is more than could be said for the pheasant. :p
