Hi,
I need to replace the rear beam bushes (2004 Panda 1.2 ) due to knocking noises, but have been told that the bushes are not sold seperatly, and that I have to buy the whole bloomin beam (£500 !) . Can this be true - what a nightmare !
Any advice greatfully recieved.

I bought a 2005 Panda MJ with 110k on it exactly 12 months ago. One of the advisories on the MoT was for 'slight play in both rear axle bushes.'

I searched the web and on here, a lot, and was unable to find any way other than to consider replacing the whole beam. I thought I was looking at a big bill. All my searches returned me to Stilo beam bushes but nothing for the Panda.

The thing is though, I noticed the eye bushes in the top of the rear shock absorbers were worn. I replaced both shocks, and the car passed the MoT this year with no mention of 'axle bushes.' Either the first tester was misleading, calling the shock absorber bushes "axle bushes" or they were completely missed this year, which is unlikely.

Are you sure it's the beam bushes?

My car has now done 124k so it seems the beam bushes last well.

Thanks for the reply, I have already replaced the dampers and their bushes on the back, so yes, fairly sure the knocking is caused by the beam bushes. Anyone ever managed to replace these?

Hi, had the same problem a short while ago when my 05 Multijet had to undergo it's NCT (aka MOT in UK).

My mechanic also quoted me over €500 for a replacement sub axle part as he says the bushings cannot be obtained separately.

His answer?

Second hand part like this shown:

https://www.fiatforum.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=24413

Cost was a far more reasonable €130 - close to the £100 being sought by lewey on the Forum Classifieds shown above.

It flew the NCT. Mind you, it also needed front and back brakes (disc pads and shoes rear), front shocks and bushings on front also.

All in all, spent almost €1,100 to get it back into shape.

A lot of cash for a 05 Panda but in fairness to the wee car, it has covered over 210,000 Kms (about 131,000 miles) of up and down mountains and bog roads with a few quick burns up the few motorways we have in Ireland.

Plus it has been used to teach all four children to drive, some far easier than other :bang:

Never stopped or let me down so 'investing' almost €1,100 for a further four years trouble free motoring will be money well spent for me.

Wish I could say there was a cheaper way but it doesn't seem like it.

Stay safe out there.
