New owner so please pardon my ignorance.

The owner's manual seems to suggest that there may (or may not ) be a storage area under the passenger seat squab. I gave mine a tentative tug but nothing happened (still talking about the seat!) so I gave up. However, whilst enjoying a spirited drive home, I could hear something that sounded exactly like a small object sliding around near or under the passenger seat ... I've double-checked - nothing under the seat/carpet, all door pockets are empty and the glovebox only contains the wallet.

Anyone discovered if this exists in their Cross?

On my MJ, you lift up the front of the seat, slide it forwards and flip it up to reveal a small storage compartment, perfect for a first aid kit or similar.

I removed the storage in mine to make space for a subwoofer ;)

You're right - thanks - it's definitely not there on the Cross, I'm guessing because of the different style of upholstery.

... and the noise proved to be beads from a charm bracelet, trapped in a little well under the handbrake/centre console trim!

For reference, to remove this trim it's a matter of undoing four nuts - one under each of the two cup holders, one under a cover just in front of the handbrake and one under a cover right at the rear of the trim piece. Five minute job, well worth it for the peace and tranquility of a Panda cabin with a 1.3 Mjet engine immediately in front of it ... ;)

SpartanX, there must be a storage area under the passanger seat in the Cross. It would be strange that some have it and some don't. You can see it by just looking underneath the seat from the front. It is perfect for storing valuables.
You need to grip the front part of the seat, in the middle, curling your fingers around the bottom of the seat. A firmish tug will lift the chair and the back part will dip down. Once that is done, lift the chair from the backside up.

Hope it works!

I think it may depend upon the upholstery/seat covering. I believe that all Cross cars for the UK market have a 'co-ordinated' colour seat trim and, of course, they are right-hand drive so the passenger seat is on the other side and, therefore, slightly different design?

I have inspected the seat from underneath and can see that the base supporting bar is welded so I don't think I could overcome this no matter how hard I pull! Also, where I guess the storage compartment would be, I can see and touch the seat base foam/squab through ventilation holes(?).

Would a picture be helpful to prove this?

If you had the storage compartment, there would be a big plastic box attached to the seat rails, it's easily big enough for a first aid kit, it's very hard to miss ;)

Thanks for that. Definitely not there then on the (my) UK Cross and doesn't sound like something that would be easy to retrofit either.

Fortunately, there's loads of space elsewhere in the car for storage ... oh, no, hang on - let me think about that ;)

I think this has been done before....

Clearly the passenger/drivers seat are different to our continental cousins as in the opposite side...;)

My Cross has the 'sub' under the drivers seat which is where the storage space would have been in the left hand drive version, under the passenger seat.

I stand to be corrected though...(y)

I have been looking for this secret compartment but found that the manual said only on emotion versions. where will it tell you which version you have? not in log book. my panda cross (Kermit) is 58 reg.

Although the Cross is a 4x4, it has never really appealed to the drug dealer market in the UK, probably due to the total lack of bling.
Thus there is no need for secret compartments of any kind!
