My wife has owned her 1.1 Panda for just over 3 years in that time we have had to have 2 fuel injectors replaced under warranty, the warranty ran out in Jan 2011 and low and behold the number 2 injector failed again which was the first we had replaced under warranty, rang dealer to check, only to find out that it as replaced 14 months ago so was not covered for free replacement, had injector replaced at local garage and received a bill for £260!!!!!!! an injector costs £140, and today the engine management light has come on again which looks like another £260 bill!!!!! has anyone had a similar problem and has anyone found a cheaper injector replacement?

The first thing I would do is the change the petrol station I visit! Something is causing them all to fail. Might be worth getting a new fuel filter too.

That is very unusual and must be the result of dirty fuel, something in the tank or breakdown of some component of your fuel system. As far as I know there is no replaceable fuel filter on the Panda which is a shame as it could have saved your injectors.

However, the injectors are fairly easy to remove without any fancy tools and you can send them away for testing and cleaning for a fraction of the price of new ones. I would do this before spending money on more new injectors.

I agree with the last post - the injectors can be checked and cleaned by an independent fuel injection specialist.

I have had a few issues with previous car to my lovely 100,000 mile panda (please see my post on the subject), that were all resolved by a clean of the injectors and using good quality branded fuel - oh and changing the fuel filter every 10,000 miles.

The garage told me that injectors dont actually get worn or break - they get clogged with debris or carbon. The biggest problem is that modern driving in slow moving traffic doesnt generate the temperatures or engine speeds to keep the injectors clean - Unless you do regular motorway runs. So, my advice would be to use good quality fuel, change the fuel filter regularly and once a year use an injector cleaner product in the fuel.

i would definately find an independant expert to look at the injector as the problem could be on the fuel side or the electrical side.

the error code may tell you which one if you can get a description.

Once you know it will be more simple to sort out. it isnt a problem that crops up alot on here.
