Well, if you want to keep it cheap:

Throw interior and anything that is superflous
Chop springs
Fit rear ARB
Weld up the diff
Put all the engine stuff in

Sorted!

I've been reading that thread, tis pretty good and the guy just does bits as he goes along. They love people doing mad cars on that forum.

Pretty much what I'm thinking, but LSD seems a must to me. Rear is leaf springs, so I will have to recall some old Landy tricks there. I will need to develop my fabrication skills quite a lot. I don't have welding gear and have only semi-fabricated in the past. Only got normal garage, not a workshop or anything. Work is done on the "drive".

I like the 131 Maxi, but as you say, people seem to want money for them.

Next question is what do I need to sort out a Polish registered car? I will need to investigate the reality.

Weird. Because no one is every going to buy one over say, a Giulia Sprint or a Fulvia or a Fulvia Zagato, but people want lots of money for them.

I'd love a 131 as I had one as my first car, but I wouldn't want to spend anywhere near the money that's being asked :)

We are in much the same situation, though at least you have a garage. My other half will be getting new premises soon which we will be able to get a car into. Am looking forward to that.

You can do a fair bit on your drive, but welding might be going far, though it'd be a good thing to learn.

I agree, I'd much rather have an LSD than weld one up. Am sure there must be some LSD that can be made to fit, didn't they rally Rivas' years ago?

That'd be a cool car. What do they go for then? I also get the impression though that Lewey needs to keep the costs down and if he goes drifting then he doesn't want to be crying if he does bin it.

I would suggest a 126, but they're expensive for a semi-decent one, fragile too.

Won't be getting a 126. No room to put the engine in it is one issue, but the handling is simply impossible. I had a 126BIS and I was backwards out of roundabouts when it was wet with 25BHP. I sold it because it scared me so much and I had a 450BHP/tonne Westfield at the time!

Yeah i had a similar thing when i had my BIS, i ended keeping as much 'stuff' in the front compartment as possible :p

Have you seen the 1000cc bike engined one in the auctions section?

Hope i'm not giving you ideas  :slayer:

If you're after a cheaper project with a bit of fun i think you're sort of on the right track anyway.. (y)

Impressive, well the car, but perhaps not so much the driving!

Perhaps the wheelbase makes it very tricky and I'm guessing the engine is rear mounted which wouldn't help either. Nonetheless that car can do things that an ordinary A500 can only dream about!

Yeah the driving is atrocious.

I kid you not I could drive FAR FAR FAR faster on gravel in my Peugeot 504 with something silly like only 70 or 80bhp.....
