Hi, I have 1.2 Dualogic Eleganza, (2010) I am confused with the heater and have a problem as well.
After looking at the manual (no help) my questions are.

When in auto mode you can only use this with air con on (switching off air con switches of auto)

You can not get all three areas to work via buttons (Feet, face/side window and screen) it seems only a combination of two.

My problem.

When in use (not air con) blows cold until temperature is set above 25.
this happen on all types of journeys.

Any help appreciated.

With the aircon turned off, it will still work in auto mode, but obviously the air will not be chilled.

So when it's colder (ie autumn, winter) you can have it set at say 20C and the blowers and direction will work automatically to heat the car up to the required temperature and maintain it.

Air always comes out of one vent or two depending upon temp etc. There'd be no advantage in it coming out of all three.

Wait until it gets colder then you'll see it working automatically with the air con off.

Whether or not the blower blows hot or cold is dependant upon the inside air temp in the car. I must admit, I've had my car on auto since March, then it'll probably go off a bit when it comes to September/October as and when the air temperature cools.

If you set it to run without auto depressed and the temperature in the car is above what it can achieve without engaging aircon the temperature setting will flash which indicates that it cannot reach the desired temperature without turning the aircon on.

I'm not convinced you've got a problem as the inside air temperature in the car is always going to be reasonably high at this time of year.

I understand what you are saying, regarding temperature inside, but when I have Auto on (lights up) Air con comes on as well (lights up) so I switch off Air con (Lights go out) but so does Auto, are you saying auto is still working but no lights show on button? or are you able to switch off your air con but auto remains with light on?

I did say I was confused on this post?

Thanks for help.

Yep, it will still maintain the set temperature inside the car automatically with the auto light off, so fan speed, direction etc will all still be auto. I often run it like this in the winter when all I need is warm air.

No you cannot have the auto light on if the aircon isn't on. I guess this is because it cannot be fully automatic (ie cool as well as warm the interior) without the air con on.

As above you cant have the auto climate control on without the air con light being on also. I find that the air con light stays on even if the climate control is blowing out hot air. I only find the auto climate control any use on long trips. For short journeys its too much messing about with the temp because by the time you have it set you have arrived at your destination. If the car is hot I just put the temp at 16 and switch the air con on. If its just a bit warm its easier to completely switch off the entire system and just wind the window down for a bit.

Just as a side question (as I cant remember what the manual says) is the temp displayed on the multi function display the outside temp? If so is there anyway to display the cars internal temp?

Temp on dash is outside temp.

I don't see why you don't just leave your climate control on. It won't reach your desired temp any quicker if you set it to maximum or minimum. It's not like it needs to have something to aim for. :p So you may as well leave it set at the desired temp on auto as then you don't have to fiddle with anything, which lets face it is a better option on a short trip. (y)(y)

Well as you know everyday you feel different. Sometimes you are colder and others you feel hotter. So one day 20c is spot on but some days it isnt. I find that if I want it to be cooler for a short trip its better to turn off the auto function. I then set the temp to 16c, turn on the compressor and put the fan on a couple of bars. I find that if I leave the auto on it tries to get to 16c far too quickly. It ramps up the fan speed and blasts you with cold air. So just after I have set off I put the temp upto 18c as I am then far too cold. However after a minute its still too cold so I then set it to 20c. But then I decide its still too cold however I am feeling colder because I just got blasted by cold air when I got in. So this game of chase the temp lasts for 15 minutes and then I arrive at work. Like I said a very short drive.

I find it much easier to set the temp very low to 16c but regulate the interior temp by fan speed instead. On longer journeys I do use the auto function as I have the time to set the temp as I like on that particular day. I will admit I might just be me as I have never even had air con before let alone climate control.

Nope! Not my experience anyway. Generally climate goes on at 19/20C for the summer and then 22C for the winter. That's it, never touch it apart from that. (y)

The idea of climate is that you have it set at the desired temperature and it will work to achieve that in the shortest time possible, so I don't see how you could be too cold or too hot using it that way. Obviously if you set it on auto and at 16C then of course you are likely to feel too cold because the setting is too cold in the first place. I've had mine at 19C since June. Not touched it at all.

I don't really follow your logic, but different folks and all that. (y)

No you are not following me at all. Ok so lets say the car is very warm when I get in. So I set the climate control to 19c and I leave it. The climate control system will not cool the car quick enough by the time I get to work. With it being warm in the car I want it cooled as quick as possible. So I want ice cold air coming out of the vents to relieve the heat. I would prefer the car to be cold and then gradually heat up to the desired heat. I dont want to sit there sweltering in the heat while the temp comes down. I dont have the time to wait bascially. As I said you cant have ice cold air slowly coming out of the vents with auto on though because it blasts it out.

You are the only person I have heard say that their internal body temperature is always the same. My partner is always cold when I am warm and warm when I am cold. I think she tells me that just to annoy me though.

But it doesn't cool down any faster just because you set it to 16c. The idea of having it on auto is that it gets to the desired temp as quick as possible, then the fan speed slows down to maintain that temperature. (y)

:ROFLMAO:

Your so right. The total opposite of heating.

Yes, and no.

You are the only person I have heard say that their internal body temperature is always the same.

Well core temp should always be 37C (think thats the temp) or your seriously ill!

Only real car enthusiasts could have an in-depth conversation about their car's heater :p

Climate Control ;) :p

Well yes I have been seriously ill several times but I dont think that has anything to do with it. I simply cant belive that everybody is happy with the same temp all the time. So you have never turned to somebody and asked them if they are cold and they have said that actually they are really warm. The usuall answer to this where I come from is that you are told that you are a bit nesh.

I will try one last time to explain what I mean and after this I am giving up. If the car is warm and you use auto it literally blasts cold air into the car. Sometimes I dont want to be blasted with ice cold air I just want the fan on a couple of bars. However if you try and change the fan speed with auto on it turns itself off. So sometimes its just easier to set the air con to cold (16 or 18 whatever) and have nice cold air trickling out of the vents at your own speed.

Right thats it, that was my final attempt.

Yes, say car is 35C when you get in it, and you want it to be 19C.

You select 19C, and Auto.

Will then blast cold air into the car until it nears / reaches 19C, and will then slow fan speed and adjust blower temp to maintain this temp.

Next time, set it into the screen, and let it blast out (so its not so in your face) and then you'll notice the fan speed slow when desired temp is reached (y)

The lower you have the fan, the longer it will take to cool down....Simples. :D

Im not trying to cool down the entire car for a quick trip though. All I want to do is gently cool myself by having a gentle breeze of ice cold air coming through the vents. Theres no point in having the entire car interior at a nice cool temp when im getting out of it 10 minutes later.

If you are warm would you rather have a nice cold shower or be thrown into an ice cold lake head first. Theres no point in having cold air blasting away from me either. All I ask for a very quick drive in a warm car is to have a steady trickle of cold air directed at me. While on a longer drive I do use the auto function as its worth getting the car temp right as I am staying in the car for long enough for it to be worthwhile.

Do you ever get the feeling that sometimes you wish you hadnt started something. :bang:

Well why don't you just put the temp on 16C, point vents at you and manually adjust the fan speed

Simples ;)

Er hold on am I typing in a foreign language?? I have been saying from my very first post on this thread that this is exactly what I do. I was saying that sometimes I dont bother with the auto function and set it manually.
