Tuning Paper panel filter vs Bmc panel vs Bmc Cda

I'd say BMC CDA, assuming you plumb in a decent cold air feed too. Fitted something similar to my (otherwise bog standard) 1.2 8v in the 4x4, and picked up 6bhp and 7torques in the process - about 10% alround. The standard intake on that car was a length of drinking straw mind.

ECU picked up the increased flow just fine and mixture remained good.

Exhaust next....

Well I will tell you very soon which one is better for performance as I will be Putting each of them back to back on a RR,

that wont help show how much the cda gets restricted over time

Your right, no RR will show How restrictive any filter gets, IMO the picture you posted, that could happen to the standard set up, as there is no reason why it wouldn't. I don't understand how a bird could get near to the filter as there is no direct airflow from the front grill, That's a weird one.

I have read older posts on this forum about tuning the 100HP. Is it still true that you cant get more power out of the 100HP because the ECU still hasnt been cracked? I was thinking about fitting the BMC cda eventually but if there isnt any performance gains then I dont see the point. It probably makes the car sound better but I will stick with the OE air box. It will be very interesting to see if the BMC panel filter is better than a standard OE filter. Im looking forward to the results. :)

On another note I see that you can buy a K&N induction kit for the 100HP. A mate of mine told me that some filters (like the K&N) can gunk up the air intake system with a fine oil. He said it would be a good idea to fit an oil catchment tank if these filters were used. Not sure if the BMC filters have an oil coating. My mate does know his stuff but im not sure how acurate the information is.

I have checked the GSR website and their induction kit is cheaper (£177) than the BMC cda. When you say they dont come up for sale often do you mean that GSR have ceased trading? I am no expert but I cant see what is so special about the GSR unit. It sits very low in the engine bay though I wouldnt be very keen on that idea.

It's a non issue with a MAF sensor. AFM can be affected but they are old tech.

no i meant used in classifieds. they still trade but are banned from trading on here. the low down filter isn't a problem unless you like driving your car through floods
