I have another question and I was hoping I could trouble you guys again. When I picked up my 100HP the dealer told me there was no need to restrict the revs until the engine had bedded in. He said I should just drive the car normally and just vary the revs used but dont cane it. I already knew this anyway as thats what modern engines require. However he also said that the ecu restricts the power until the engine has done 2000 miles anyway.

I have some previous experience of this Fiat dealership and even though they are nice guys they do tend to make a lot of things up. So I didnt exactly take his word for it as it sounded wrong to me. The obvious question then is does the ecu restrict the power until the engine has done 2k? I hope not because with the limited mileage I do I wont get full power for about 6 months!! :(

Yeah thats what I thought and it doesnt surprise me that the dealer was talking crap. Those guys are pleasant enough but know sweet FA about cars or Fiat in general. When I told them that I decided not to wait for the new sporty Panda (if they even do a sporty model next time) they had no idea at all that the current Panda was due to be discontinued. Either that or they were denying all knowledge of it. And when I went down to order the 100HP the salesman I was originally talking to had no idea what a "Pandemonium" pack was. He had to call over the only salesman they had who had at least some knowledge of the Panda. Fiat really need to do something about the franchised dealers.(n)

Yes you are right I should really name and shame. However the dealer and myself are based in a smallish town and I would prefer to keep my privacy. The misinformation was given from naivety not out of trying to con me. I dont have a problem with the service they offer its just that they dont know much.

Dont worry though I did tell Fiat when they asked for feedback. Not sure if that means anything though.

Interesting thread, I had to explain to 'my' salesperson what and where the Subwoofer was/is that I'd ordered with the car....
It's a little known fact that, not only does the engine ecu on the 100HP restrict power for the first 2,000 miles but, if a subwoofer is installed and the owner wears Burberry and a baseball cap (the wrong way round), engine power is actually BOOSTED by 50%.

Yup, as my neck-brace will testify to as I wasn't told that wee gem...Oh, and it's another little known fact that 'Piles' are sorted due to the 'Subs' location...result...(y)

It would be most stupid thing ever as cars sell based on jounalists reviews. If power was resricted the 100hp would be a lot slower than it was supposed to be doing those tests!

Stop moaning, if you want restriction you should have gone for the 1.1 Active Eco :p

oi! haha

i cant see the point of buying a slow car and then complaining about it being slow when people do i just walk off shaking my head (metaphorically)

that was just general talk then, not havin a go:)
