Has anybody fitted cruise control to their Panda, mine is 1.2 Dualogic 2010 model, successful, expensive ? Any recomendations on Make/supplier

Thanks :)

Cruise control can make long distance driving more relaxing, particularly on motorways, and I see no valid reason for not fitting it to a Panda if it's what you want.

You will need to use a system that's compatible with a drive-by-wire CANBUS car; here's a place to start looking:

http://howard-may.co.uk/4555.html

They specifically mention the Panda as a supported vehicle type.

What difference does it make either A Fiat Panda or Mercedes C Class, the purpose of cruise control is still the same, long journeys etc arrive relaxed and comfortable.

306maxi and maccauk1 based in your replies I assume you consider cruise control not worthy of any car!

jrkitching thanks for the link.

my 2007 dualogic 1.2 eleganza came with it fitted by the previous owners, see my thread www.fiatforum.com/panda/230028-third-stalk.html

it works very well, i use it on my commute every day, makes the trip that little bit more relaxing. it was a godsend on a recent cambridge to edinburgh trip. stalk a little flimsy but not too bad, has two presets which are very useful.

recommended as long as its not too expensive!

snuffle thanks for link, initial pricing looks about £500 hopefully I may find a more realistic price/route.

Not the reason at all, my main concerns would be £5000 car + £1000 for cruise control= £5000 car with a grands worth of electrical trouble waiting to happen.
And adding to the final resale value, absolutely nothing.

I have a 1.1 Panda which i regularly drive around 250+ miles a day and don't feel tired or stressed.

How about an aftermarket turbo or automatic headlights and washers IMHO you might as well burn £20 notes.

Well thats just stupid.

You could start saying why bother with A/C when you can just open a window, A/C will go wrong and cost more? But its down to personal choice and comfort.

A well fitted Cruise Control system shouldn't 'go wrong'.

Only the 100hp and Dual-Logic Panda's are fly by wire are they not? Might be worth looking into the CANBUS operating system and seeing if its similar to that on a Stilo as CC is a fairly easy add-on with them :)

I agree. I've done a few long drives in my 500 and tbh the thing that tires you the most is the driving position. My feet and legs are usually fine.

Well i dont think we need to start disputing how useful cruise control is. WillWord was just asking for some information on it.
I really wish my panda had cruise control, would make motorway driving alot better! Would have that over most other extras.

IMHO should be standard on the car. The additional manufacturing cost wouldn't be much then. If FIAT are serious about selling their cars in the USA, they'll have do this as I can't see many Americans buying the car otherwise. Be interesting to see if the US 500 has it, when it finally arrives.

In response to those saying they can drive comfortable without it, what about fuel consumption?

The only time I use mine is on a nice eco run, set it at 50-55, and forget about it and let the car do the rest :)

Cruise control can also have a negative effect on economy. Cruise control doesn't know that there's a big hill coming up so it should gain a bit of speed, nope, it just slows down and then floors the car to maintain speed which drinks fuel.

Meh, I live in East Anglia, we have no hills here (apparently) :p

It would make motorway driving a pain in the nether region as it wouldn't work.

Because a 1.1 or 1.2 Panda cannot maintain 70/80 (or 50/60) in 5th gear, on most motorways.

You've got it all wrong, cruise control on a small engined car like a 1.1 or 1.2 Panda magically gives it more bhp and torque which means you can pull strongly in 5th up long motorway hills :ROFLMAO: I can understand it in a big engined car which will do 80 regardless of gradient but in a small engined car it's just going to burn fuel trying to pull up hills in 5th.

Point taken on £5k car + £1k add on.

My car (original post) 2010 Dualogic 1.2 Eleganza

£9k Car + £500 (ish) add on, also intend to keep car over 5 years .

Its down to personal choice, type of journeys etc, and perceived value on extras, I know you do not get a return on investment with after market cruise control, but you do get the extras that you want and enjoy.

nonsense :D my 1.2 dualogic pops along a flat motorway at 70mph at around 3200 rpm in 5th very nicely indeed!

and i've never perceived any issue with inclines and the like, but then i live in a relatively flat part of the world

That might just have something to do with it......

I have a 1.2 500 and even with the extra 9 horsies over the Panda 1.2 it still can't maintain 70 up long motorway inclines unless you build speed up before the hill.
