Last night my water pump and fan belt failed and also the coolant boiled away, anyone know how much it will cost to repair on a 1.3 multijet?

Really depends on where you get it done and whether you use a genuine fiat spare parts or after market parts..genuine pump on eper is telling me £56.51p..

The OEM part really is not expensive then. Have paid more than double that for water pumps for other cars.

I'd advise fitting only OEM for these type of parts as pattern pumps tend not to be made as well IME.

Doesn't the dismal have a timing chain rather than a cam belt?

Water pump failure seems to be a feature of the Multijet. I've had two replaced so far due to leaks...

Well sweety It could well do I used cam belt as a loose term really....its not listed as an engine at all on my elearn and eper wont let me get it to check it out and I have never really had any interest in lamp oil burners :p..at the mo it looks as tho a pirate has taken over the panda multi jet engine specs page on eper when I searched for camshaft drive..Ahoy me hearties..

But if it does have chain drive then it wouldn't affect the belt breaking cos it doesn't have one.. or pump self destroying its self as you rightly intimated..(y)..I am now ready to be beaten with your Sally rod..;)

I have got a local man to do it at £208 to replace water pump and coolant and fit new belt. I will be frightened to use the car again in case it breaks down again.
The Panda was cheap to buy but is proving expensive to maintain.

And now here we go heads down for a diag of cam chain drive on the multijet 1.3 engine..I found a new version of eper that shows it ..its not shown on F/F eper..note to self..check in future before you put ya mouth in gear..

The corrosion protection additives in the coolant do deteriorate with time. I'd suggest changing the coolant every second year, regardless of mileage. Cheap if you do it yourself (it's not hard), and not expensive if you go to a decent independent garage.

The water pumps are crap, same with GP, bravo, punto etc nothing to do with changing coolant.

Worrying if theyre fitted to engines which drive them via the cambelts as there's gonna be people who lose the engine if the waterpump seizes

Is it mostly the waterpumps that are fitted to Multijets that are effected T? Or are the same crap pumps used on several/all engines?
