Do the wiper stalk (trip comp. stalk) on anyone else's Panda rattle when driving?

Mines seems to do it all the time and its becoming really annoying.

Any one got a fix for it?

Mine used to do it but was replaced under warranty, it is actually the rear wiper switch that does it and all I had to do was twist it towards the on position till you feel some resitance and then leave it and it would be silent until you turned it back.

Mine rattles too, but I usually turn the radio up loud when I'm on my own so it doesn't really bother me...

I had the same problem and I thought it was the trip button on the end of the wiper stick. It turned out that I just needed to touch the wiper stick anyway and it stopped until I let go. In giving the stick a slight tap it sounded like a spring on the inside made the noise. I slowly put some WD40 in the gap around the trip button on the end of the stick, then I slightly pulled the end of the stick away making a slight gap between the wipers twist handle and stick then slowly put WD40 in that also. The noise has now gone and has not yet returned. Hope this helps.

not sure WD40 is an ideal solution. But fair play it worked and its fixed which is great (y)

WD40 contains solvent and can wash any remaining grease away.

I have a deep groaning buzz from the steering column. It's some piece of metal or plastic that complains at certain engine revs. I've never managed to find the source so just live with it.

I'm intrigued. My stalks are both quiet, with no discernible play in any part. Am I just lucky?

When I got the car, the passenger airbag would rattle. Very annoying.
Fixed that with a small bead of silicone sealant. Remove glovebox, slacken the three airbag mounting screws. Apply a very small bead of sealant around the aperture where the airbag sits into the dash. Let it dry. Push airbag back in and tighten screws. Silent ever since.

pot luck I think

3x cars over 400K miles between them. No problem so far

looking through the forum it use to be quite common on early cars but not so much now

stalks in general are a typical failure point. Had quite a few fail over the years. Normally flashing when going over bumps. On both the cars before the Panda (Vauxhall x2 and Mercedes) they have needed replacing

The right hand stalk rattles now and again on my 53 reg Panda. I usually push the stalk in towards the cowl (from the top part) and that stops the rattle for a couple of weeks.

I have to say I was very sceptical about the WD-40 fix but I gave it a go today and it really seems to have done the trick! Thanks!!

The rattle I have which I thought was the dashboard screen rattle some seem to have on here I have traced to the clip on surround of the instrument binnacle. If you push the corner quite gently it stops. If you have a recurrence of your rattle, my remedy is silicon spray lubricant. It generally works wonders on squeaky rattly plastics but I find may need retreating after a while. Do wipe excess off straight away though and don't apply when the plastic is hot as it will mark the plastic if you do. I have not tried WD40 and might give it a try. Great idea.

The instrument binnacle front is removable (four screws) A dab of electronics grade silicone sealer or RTV will stop any rattles. But don't go mad as it will need to come apart some day.
