interested in gettin one purely for the look of bulb but also for the light they give off (yes i know i could get some super white bulbs)

anyone tried one out?

and are they generic or do you need a special kit for each car?

any info is welcomed

:yeahthat:

HID's are illegal in UK unless fitted OEM with washers and self levelling.

You also need lamp unit with a projector style lens to focus the beam. The old style lights where the front glass did the focusing are useless..you just get a very bright light with less of it on the road and annoy the F* out of other drivers..

I agree with what the last 2 posters have said. In the event of an accident OEM HID's switch off as well, lowering the chance of your car catching on fire or electrocuting someone......

I knew I'd seen it somewhere. Was speaking to some automotive designers the other day (now both college lectures ) and they'd never heard about the deactivation on HID's in the event of airbag deployment :p

Though I wasn't imagining it(y) :)

Just upgrade your blubs and save your money had a kit in my volvo s40 sod doing that again drilling hole and tryin to hide all the bloody cables and the ballast boxes.

Varys from car to car and the numpty that fits them. I had them in my punto mk2b and they were fine, didnt blind anyone, passed MOT they were fine. I fitted them to my grande and they were all over the place so out them came.

With the smaller engine's (1.1/1.2) its pretty easy but with the 1.4 its a bit tight.

Matter of opinion!

Well thankfully I have an Active so it will be less like a Nun.(y)

Easy to change the bulb = yes
Easy to replace the headlamp unit rear cover = no.

Thats the pig, and something that has to be done (n)

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but why would you need to change the rear cover? Do you need to remove it to change the bulb or something?

Has to be said that I think the light off standard Panda headlamps is the best I've come across. Not a patch on Xenons, but if there's nothing wrong with them I wouldn't touch.

Yep, seem pretty good to me. Not sure why some feel the need to have blue headlights that blind everyone.

The full beam, really is rather good I think.

We have this argument in the 500 forum all the time.

People seemingly want to have daylight in front of them but don't realise that this comes at the cost of the person in front not being able to see. If people back in ye olde dayes could ride around in the dark on carriages with pissweak lanterns, then the rather good headlights on the 500 and Panda are more than adequate. God forbid any of these people should have to drive a 60's or 70's car with sealed beam headlights, they probably wouldn't go out at night :ROFLMAO:

They were still using those on the Austin Allegro I had. Happily headlight technology is keeping pace with my diminishing eyesight.
