Apologies this is a long thread but here goes.... As I live in Crewe I have the choice of 2 Fiat dealers, Lookers at Northwich and B.S.Marsons in Newcastle Under Lyme. My usual choice is the Newcastle dealer. Anyway, they are starting to get really annoying, here is my latest story:-

I own a Panda 100hp, 2007 with 22500 miles on the clock. A while back, mid 2009 I had a squeeky drivers seat. I booked it in with B.S.Marsons who after some investigation took the seat out, stripped it down and plastered it with lubracant. This cured the squeek but after about 2 months the cushion base came loose to I booked it in again to ask for it to be tighened. Upon investigation they decided it need some sort of 'Kit' to be able to fix it (Something like a banjo kit or something if I remember correctly) but it will have to be ordered in. I said fine and continued to book in a new date for it to be fixed.

The date arrived (October 2009 ish) and we drove it to the garage. Whilst it was there I asked if they could have a look at the suspension as there was a knocking coming from the front and rear of the vehicle. In my opinion I said that it sounded like the front anti-roll bar links that were loose, my diagnosis was correct. The knocking from the rear was diagnosed as a loose silencer and they rewoked the rubbers so that there wasn't any chance of any clashing. The dealers then said thatI would have too book the car in again for the linkages to be fitted as they had to order them specially due to it being a 100hp version. As we had a baby immenent I decided I would have a look at it in 2010. I eventually booked the 05th March 2010

The 05th March came and I drove the car to the garage and left it over night as I couldn't pick the car up the same day. I also mentioned when I dropped it off that the knocking on the rear was getting louder and asked them to take another look. The next day I picked the car up with the new front linkages fitted and bingo, front knocking cured. The assistant on the desk said that they have investigated the rear and it looks like some sort of rubbers are perished and that to replace them I would need to bring the car in once again. I booked it in for 26th March 2010

The 26th arrived and we drove the car to the garage on the friday and said that I would like to pick the car up later that evening, they said fine abd that they would give me a call when it's ready. I didn't get a phone call and as it was nearing 16:00 I decided to ring them. They continued to tell me that the parts hadn't arrived and tnhat I would have to leave the car with them once again. I was unable to pick the car up on the Saturday so the assistant said he would arrange with the sales team for me to pick it up on the Sunday. Sunday came and I drove to the garage and picked the car up where my misses drove it home.

2 days later I got to drive the 100hp where I thought to myself "This still seems to be knocking" and just thought oh well. Last Wednesday (31st March) I got a card through the post saying that my parts had arrived. Very confused I rang the dealers where they admitted that they had handed the car back to me not fixed and that my new rear shocks had arrived and that the car needs to be booked in yet again for them to install the new suspension.

1. Why hadn't they ordered the parts on 05th March when they found what was the problem so that they would be there for them on the 26th March??

2. Why did they give the car back to me when it wasn't fixed??

3. How much money is it costing me back and too the dealers when:-

a. I have to take my Mitsubishi Outlander and the Panda 100hp there.
b. Drive my misses back in the Outlander.
c. Driver my misses in the Outlander back there to pick up the Panda.
d. Drive both cars back,

This is costing me a fortune in fuel all because the B.S.Marsons can't do their job properly in the first place.:bang::bang:

Anyway, the car is now booked into the garage for 16th April to hopefully install the rear dampers which will finally cure the rear knocking noise.

I think I might take it too Lookers next time and see if I get a better service there.

Ultimately, should my rear dampers be worn so quickly, the car has only done 22500 miles (n)(n)

Actually, it sounds, apart from the last item when they didn't fit the bits, that your dealer is giving you excellent service - it's not their fault you don't live next door to them. On the shocks, from what I've read elsewhere in these forums, yes, the Panda range of suspension units have a pretty poor life span. I used to swap shocks that had been on for years just to uprate handling, not because the things had failed, the world of Panda parts giving up the ghost so fast is alarming to say the least.

Wouldnt the dealers give you a loan car while yours was in the shop? I know the dealers I use do hand out loan cars for customers to use.

Why don't you get your dealer to pick your car up and drop off a courtesy car?

I've done this before, much less hassle. They came to my work to drop off this horrible 500, took my car, then two days later came to my home to swop cars again.

Hahahahaha!

Our Punto broke under warranty. It took three weeks to get a courtesy car. And then it was our old Seicento we'd traded in for the Punto.

i live in nantwich and although i havent booked the car into a service yet as it is only 6 months old

i found that b.s marsons are alright but only the youngish chap who i think is mr bs's son?

other people there are useless

I bought my car from Mangoletsi Knutsford. They no longer sell Fiats but are still a service centre. They've been pretty good really in the five times or so my car has been back for faults.

Any idea why they no longer sell Fiats? I thought they were meant to be an excellent dealership.

I guess they still sell Alfa?

Still Alfa, yes, well wholly Alfa now. No idea why they don't sell Fiats anymore, though I'm guessing that being where they are, they might have opted to concentrate on the prestige end of the market rather than the bargain Fiat end of it. They still do all my servicing/warranty work.

Ah right, cheers :)

I spose it's not the biggest of sites in the World so just having Alfa lets them spread out abit more, and i know what you mean about the local market being more prestige.

I suppose there's one or two Fiat garages not too far away aswell (Warrington Motor Park, Lookers Stockport) so Fiat probably didn't pressurise Mangoletsi to keep the franchise from a point of view of leaving a gap in the sales network either.

Just abit suprising as Mangoletsi seemed very popular with both brands, for both servicing and sales. Shame they hadn't expanded on the site.

What colour Panda do you drive as I might have seen you around? Mines the White Panda 100hp

To be honest, considering how firmly sprung the 100HP is, and how short the wheel base is, it doesn't surprise me that the rear dampers have 'gone'. Mine's going into Crawley Down tomorrow for vague steering (although I can't see anything obvioulsy wrong on our ramp), weeping front brake hoses and a clonk from the back. Again, can't see anything obvioulsy wrong on our ramp but I didn't look too hard as considering it's still under warranty the dealer may as well have the problem. I wouldn't be too surprised if I come back with new rear dampers as they do take a hell of a beating.
