He likes giant penises? (or whatever the plural word is for "*****")

Its Peni.

I also like the Abarth badges and may fit some to my car soon, if i keep it.

I thought Abarth were just a tuning arm of Fiat anyway, could be wrong though. Any if you look at the last 10 years of Fiats there have been a few Abarth models, Cinq, Sei , Punto, Bravo etc, and i dont think any of them had anything more than badges , alloys and bodykits compared to the standard models.

At least the 100hp handles better and has more power than the standard model. :)

Yes they are Fiats tuning arm, owned by Fiat of course, but they have their own HQ etc in Italy. Abarth had no input on the Panda HP though. The 500 is a different story, as is the GP.

Well 'Abarth' models that only had badges and alloys aren't real Abarth's at all. This is exactly why when the Abarth badge was effectively relaunched with the 500 and GP, they actually went to town on significant modifications just like the older Abarths.

I just think it's very naff in the extreme to put Abarth badges on something that is clearly not an Abarth. It's akin to putting cossie badges on a cooking Sierra, or GTI badges on a CL etc.

I would have to agree with ThisBitterPill, your car, do what you want. Besides, if we gave a t*ss what anyone else thought, we wouldn't be driving Pandas, would we?

This is an interesting debate and as I have said in another thread, if we all agreed on everything, life would be very dull.

When I was involved with a Honda club, we used to have the same discussions. If someone put red H badges [reserved for Type-R cars] onto a VTi for example, they would be mocked.

I personally like the Abarth badges and have already considered fitting a set to my 100HP - not to fool people into believing that it's a better model, but simply because I admire Fiat's tuning division and for the fact that their logo is just great.

However, how many times have we seen a stock BMW 318 with 'M' badges attached to the bootlid and laughed?

Perhaps we are all [or at least a lot of us] guilty of double-standards to a greater or lesser extent?

It's weird how cars seem to have separate rules to everything else....You put leaded windows or a 6-panelled front door on your house, nobody has a go at you for 'trying to pretend your house is Georgian / Victorian'....

Yet you do the same thing to a car and people will flame you for it....

Yes, we need to flame you for those wooden-slatted blinds that you fitted last week. Don't you realise that your house was built in 1990 and roller blinds are the only choice? :p

It's a good point you are making though.

Scorpion badge look pretty good, got a red one on the back of my 100hp. I know it's not an Arbarth but who really cares as long as I like it.

Ok I've kind of changed my tune with this one a little, it's acceptable to have Abarth badges on a Fiat. At least it promotes the brand a little, but the things i hate seeing are "Turbo V6" signs on Ford Ka's and just stupid things like that! As there is no Abarth version of the Panda, then it's not trying to be something that doesn't exist. But putting M badges on a standard BMW for example, would not be acceptable, as this is trying to suggest it's a quicker model.

Does that make sense? I am also a big fan of the Scorpion logo, i've added a few more to my Abarth! :)

It's a bit like sticking a Cosworth badge on a Fiesta, that's how I see it. But you know if people want to do that to their cars it is of course up to them, but it just makes me cringe.

I remember a while back my fiance had an MR2 Supercharger Super Edition, which was a very rare end of line model. When he got the car it was missing the Super Edition decal on the spoiler above the rear screen. He got a few made up to exactly replicate the original (it was a very original car). He had a few enquiries from other MR2 owners to buy the remaining two sets of decals from him. He refused to sell them to them because though they had MR2's they weren't 'Super Editions'. All you actually do is cheapen the Abarth brand by putting Abarth badges on cars that are not Abarth's.

I know what you're saying, but as i said, there never was or never will be a Panda Abarth and everybody knows that. People won't be fooled into thinking it's a quicker model because there isn't one! Different story sticking AMG badges on a base spec C-class, or RS badges on a Ford focus 1.4 or, best comparison yet, Abarth badges on a 500 1.2! Now that is silly!

Yes but it's like sticking Cosworth badges on your Fiesta as there never was a Cosworth Fiesta, or doing the same to a Focus ST. I think it's equally silly to put Abarth badges on a Panda because there never was one. Same difference.

But anyway, people will do what they do.
