In a Panda, soon
I'm still deciding what spec Panda to get, can't help thinking that Panda's look a bit plain without Roof bars
Does anybody know if they can be fitted "Aftermarket" and How much?
Sorry forgot to say I'm buying "pre owned" and don't want to limit myself to only looking at cars with them fitted, if it's an easy fit.
Thanks

You can buy them direct from Fiat but I think they are expensive (and also hard to get hold of according to the Parts man at Fiat) I did find out when I intially bought my Panda and thought I may have better luck buying a 2nd hand set - but these are very hard to come by and a year down the line, I still haven't found a set. If you get the chance, buy a Panda with them, it'll save you a lot of trouble later.

We ordered ours without (and this might be a bit upsetting for some of you, so sit down and brace yourselves..)..because when the rails are on it makes it look too tall, its kind of like looking at a normal car when the aspect ratio of the TV is set wrong.... :D

Having had my first panda with roof rails, when I ordered the second one I didn't go for it, which was to with the above reasons. It looks pretty tall already and I didn't think it would suit the 100hp.

I Like the Roof rails as i feel it finishes the car off,
Plus it would match the wife's Roomster.

reading the posts above i feel very lucky now! I got my used panda without roof rails (as its not a dealer breaker) and managed to get some off someone on here within a week!

I definatly think they suit the panda though, set it off nicely. look bare without them

You can buy them from a dealer but they are very expencive. You have to buy each part individually rather as a set, if i remember rightly it comes to about £260. not sure how easy they are to get hold off

Wow! you are lucky GB22, I've been searching on and off for a year and haven't seen a set available (maybe I'm looking in the wrong places! lol) Have seen a few on broken Panda's but each time someone has beaten me to it.

There is a set on E-bay at the moment but the guy won't post them out (only pick up) and its way too far for me to drive to get them. Looks as if the search goes on - if anybody has a set....please! let me know lol. Its the one thing that really bugs me about mine, the black plastic plugs.

Did consider some for mine...they look funky and suit the car...but are longitudinal bars particularly practical? Is it true that they make noise at speed too?

I've had 2 Panda 4x4s with the longitudinal bars and don't find them noisy.
They are practical as cross bars can be easily fitted to them. I was lucky to buy some cross bars in Lidl about 4 years ago that fitted, with a bit of careful carving of their plastic fittings. I think they only cost about £15 and once adjusted initially they just clamp in place.

I'm trading in my 1.3 Diesel for a 100hp, and want to take off my bars and stickem on the newer car. Do I need to get some blanking plates/plugs for the holes? and where do I get 'em?
Any help appreciated [email protected]

And then when I've got the duals swapped over , I'll be giving lessons in the 100hp instead of the multijet if anyone knows someone who wants lessons in Bury St. Edmunds area. £18 per lesson, 90 minutes for £25.

The obvious source of the blanking plugs for your trade-in is the new car that the roof bars will be fitted to.
Explain what you plan to do to the dealer and swap things over when you pick up the new car.
The only flaw to this is that the car you are trading in may not be to original spec without the bars and the dealer may not be happy about that.

I have a set that were fitted to my first Panda when I got it. I've never used them, so they still look like new! I still have all the fittings. Would anyone be interested in them?

Sorry everyone, just been told no advertising so forget the second half of that post.
I've found some blanking plugs at halfords which aren't threaded the same but i know of a source of blu tac in the area.

My local garage didn't even look at my car as regards trade in value even though it'd only done 34k had aircon,(not standard) rubbing strips and roof rails. Just quoted his book price.

Brace yourself for the stampede! :D

greenarrow - Nice to see another ADI using a 100HP. I've done over 70k in mine now. BTW, advertising is not permitted on FF :p

Cheers for that , Ian.
I was worried in case the 100hp might adversely influence the examiners (they might think it looked a bit 'modified' and expect to see a big speaker in the boot) or whether they might find the ride a liitle 'busy'.
I've been teaching in a multijet panda and I know i'm going to spend more on fuel, but I think the pupils will like it. I thought if they're gonna get !st instead of third , the 100 will not mind so much.
I was also looking at a mini cooper but it was a bit older , only had 3 months warranty and the panda's 5 doors swung it .The wife and the 'lady' pupils wanted the mini of course but I can't help thinking the Fiat looks better.
Have you had any comments from examiners?
