I have just refilled my windscreen washer reservoir for the first time since having the car and I must say its the most ridiculous position for filling I have ever seen or likely to see again on a car ! (n)

It took me ages to find it ( even with the manual ! )

Its so low down its crazy ! I couldn't even use a funnel as there's a metal bar above the neck blocking me from using one !

I ended up spilling washer fluid and water all over my driveway, as the neck for filling is so low and small that its a bit like threading the eye of a needle except with water !

I have owned 27 cars and this design is by far the worst I have come across !

The bottle on the 100HP must be in a different place because I have no problem filling it with a funnel (y)

I think its the same on the 100bhp. You must have a funnel with a very long and narrow bottom end to reach the filler tube ! The funnel I have gets obstructed by a metal bar near the tube and I can't get the funnel level enough to fill it with water.

But why in this day and age are we talking about funnels to fill up a windscreen reservoir ! Ludicrous !

All Fiat needed to do was to lengthen the tube to a level where you could get a spout of a jug into it ! simples !

It's still a crap design because you shouldn't need a funnel. The filler on the 100hp is slightly better than on my old MJ as at least it comes up a bit higher, but it's still idiocy having such a small filler neck.

I sliced the bottom off a distilled water bottle, it get's in there quite a treat.

However it's not the quickest thing going, and an unsteady hand when removing a half empty bottle can result in a wet leg - bloody freezin stuff !!!

You've got me thinking now ! maybe a coke plastic bottle with the fat end cut off might work as a funnel ?

My Punto had a bigger neck on the bottle and it was in a better position but I still needed a funnel.:( It's no big problem, at least I didn't think it was until this thread appeared ;)

Yes - I've been using a mineral water bottle with the bottom cut off for years - since getting a Cinquecento Sporting, which was a nightmare, as was the Seicento. Original Panda was much better (in this respect only).

You know a car has to be pretty good when people are complaining about the washer bottle neck being too small.

Or not quite so good.....
Yeah, but at least there aren't a torrent of my

clutch
gearbox
engine
brakes
electrics

etc etc have gone threads and that's all that matters. Be a man (or a woman as the situation dictates) and use a funnel and take your time filling up. if anything I think the capacity of the screenwash tank is a little too small and on motorway journeys you find yourself filling up more than once in a journey which is silly.

It doesn't even give you a warning when the screenwash is low. Rubbish! :p

My old beemer used to pull up a warning 'washer fluid low', which was pretty handy really.

Mine does! It sort of goes, "bzzzz, cough, cough, cough" and a few splots of liquid splatter randomly on the screen. "Ahh" I think, "that must be the screenwash is low warning" :D

Try this for filling up the reservoir: get yourself an old Vaporesse bottle (the missus/partner/mistress should have one, allegedly). Obviously rinse it out well. You'll find it has a 'twin screw on lid' , so you remove the whole lid for filling it up with your screenwash and adding water to the correct mix ratio, then the 'secondary' lid has a built in spout for accurate pouring.
The opening on the resevoir is stupidly small, but I find I can fill it up with no spillage using this method. Admittedly you can't fit masses in the Vapresse bottle, but then we're not talking about a huge washer reservoir anyway. Give it a go.
