Hi all.

I was poised to buy a Panda Dynamic today while the scrappage is still on. But when I visited the showroom, I was massively disappointed..

My neighbour has a Panda in black, it's an 09 model and the front grille looks much sexier than the venetian blind effect of this year's 'facelift'. I've noticed that the old style grills can still be purchased for a score or so but the dealer couldn't tell me if I could simply swap them over.

A bigger disappointment was the console inside the car. My 15 year old Rover 214Si has nice spongy plastic with walnut trim. And a standard din hole for the CD. The console on the Panda is HORRIBLE rigid battleship grey plastic and the CD player, being all built-in, is not swappable. Bum! I'm also not sure whether the subwoofer option also includes the door-handle tweeters being installed as they're not loaded as standard.

And is there a £90- steering wheel controls option? I've seen it elsewhere but the dealer told me I'd have to get the full Bluetooth package.

Regarding folding seats.. Do they fold flat as standard? -If I wanted to load a washing machine would I require the slidey back seats?

I'll probably still get one as they are so cheap with scrappage and my Rover may be a luxurious ride and quite pokey but is probably ready for landfill or whatever.

Any help in clearing-up the above would be appreciated.

Thanks

The CD Head units are changeable (y)

As for the rear seats, why not just have a play in the dealership.

iirc Sisters Active Seats fold flat :)

And things might not get much better if you actually bought one. You don't mention a test drive. After owning a Rover could I suggest that you try again, but this time take a Panda out for a bit of a thrashing? They respond very well to being driven brisquely but are not much in the comfort stakes and the change could prove a tad too drastic for you.
I've a 1.2 Dynamic and the rear seats don't fold entirely flat but are held up by the rear squabs and their own (limited) padding. No trouble getting a fridge in there though. There are aftermarket dash inserts to fill the hole if you change to a non standard player but why buy a new car already planning to pay out more to modify it; why not get a vehicle which ticks all the boxes in the first place?

We got rid of our old Rover 420SDLi... and got the 1.1 active eco (got the metallica black paint, got the newer series 2 grill with the holes .. got the big wing mirrors.. got 3 rear seat belts..) and being shorter than the old rover you get more up and down on dips and holes but its still a great drive.. ! No it doesn't have the same trim level but then again the rover was a much higher spec model and wasn't in the small cheap car class... However with the money I save on fuel, tax and insurance I could pay for spongy dash and a whole walnut tree !

I think this grill is only on the active eco 1.1 all the others seem to have the slot grill...
